    Hi folks,

Firstly I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place....

Secondly I'm sorry I have no photo.......

The tub I grow my Sweet Williams in has become covered in brown mushroomy/fungi type things.

I was just going to throw the whole lot away, tub as well but then I realised that my favourite Hyacinths are in there ( Woodstock and Gypsy Queen).

Do you think I can get these out and will they be ok. I was thinking of wearing thick rubber gloves and then upending the whole lot into a bin bag and then pulling the Hyacinths out and throwing everything else away, including the tub.

Id be inclined to dump the sweets and soil and give the bulbs a wash in a mild disinfectant /spray with fungicide and scrub the container in a bleach wash making sure there are plenty drainage holes present with crocks.

      Hi Wee Tam,

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll try and save the bulbs then :)
I was going to throw the container away anyway so there's no great loss there.

Bear in mind most fungi are actually beneficial.
I'd very much doubt that the fungi in question would actually damage your bulbs.

If the tub is made of wood, then the fungi are more likely to be living off that, rather than anything living.

The tub is plastic and the Sweet Williams aren't looking very happy.

" Thick rubber gloves " is because I won't touch any mushroom that hasn't come from a shop !

        Oh well.
Just dump it then, the pot is easy enough to sterilize if its plastic.
Cant think how a fungi that affects living plants could have got in there if you were using a purchased compost.

Dont think I'd bother too much with the Hyacinths, probably best to buy some more.
