Oh no, how annoying for you. Progress was so good as well! Will you be able to work on it on evenings next week or will it have to wait until the bank holiday weekend now?

Hi Anzia, I'm doing 3 days of training this week Monday - Wednesday so hopefully if they finish a little earlier and the weather forecast of rain changes I will try to do as much as I can. We are off to our Spanish house in September  so I really wanted to get it finished before we go, so fingers crossed and hoping for some dry weather it could be achievable :)

Hi Redwing... thanks :) I've been reading up on a lot of the plant and thanks to @Sian in Belgium I know now how to ensure that they don't have the dreaded duck weed... I'm still trying to get rid of it from the ones I've purchased, but keeping them in a bucket really helps by overfilling with water and they just drift off the top... cracking tip :spinning:

I think once the flags are down and the waterfall and lighting is in it will give me a better idea of what I can put where for height and colour.

I do love a lot of the plants that encourage dragon and damsel flies, but not sure if this is good for the pond? There are lots of bee and butterfly friendly plants too so I will probably do my best to plant as much as I can to encourage nature to pop along for a visit :dancy:

      [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I will very soon be putting a list of plants I'm thinking of purchasing on my page to get some advice on the do's and don'ts

I've also been looking for rockery plants so that the waterfall starts to look natural so hopefully when all the building work is complete I can get the planting done quiet quickly.. I've probably chosen the wrong time to start the pond as I have read that Spring is the better time! :thud:

Since my last post the weather has been terrible and with all the rain it has been impossible to carry on with any work so hopefully with a better weather forecast for the weekend and coming week the pond work can start again.

Having received my £80 worth of vouchers the other day.... I've taken a trip to the garden centre today and yep.... spent them all.... on the pond and garden so lots of activity this weekend...

Sand in place and levelled out ready for the flags to be put into place

          P1020732.JPG

:loll:Good to see beckie tempted you into buying bulbs too! I'm not her only victim

I would offer you some rockery plants but I've only got a small bunch of each type at the moment. I took small clumps from my grans :heehee: I would reommend house leeks. You can literally shove the root (single tap root) in between rocks and they grow. They're that easy. And they grow a really REALLY unique flower! Creeping Jenny is another awesome plant which grows in water, semi submerged or in soil (or in rock cracks) so it's a nice filler plant for awkward spots. You can take cuttings really easily and they will grow no matter what.

The pond is looking great AB! Can't wait to see what it's like when the waterfall is in place :love30:

Are you on commision for a bulb company somewhere?

Thank you strongylodon, hopefully a lot of progress will happen over the next few days.... its been terribly frustrating with all the rain.... at one point it was over flowing onto the garden so its been good to have a couple of dry days.

We have only just come in... worked until the very last light and then had a BBQ and the warmth from the chiminea...very relaxing.

Good evening @Radiation91, AH... so she has tempted you too... I agree I think she is deffo on commission :heehee:

Thank you for the thought of some rockery plants :)... I spent quiet a bit of time looking at what was on offer.... there are so many to choose from so I have decided to wait until everything is in place and then plan what to have where. I actually saw houseleeks and yes they are a really interesting plant... but didn't know that you could do that with them so I've just added it to my wish list :dbgrtmb:
