What jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2015

Today I have had a plant pot washing session. My method is to brush out all the old compost and then let them soak for a couple of hours in a bleach solution. I use Tesco's own brand thin bleach at 29 pence for two litres and just pour the whole lot into the trug full of water. After soaking they are stacked in the greenhouse to dry.

 

I'm still clearing away plants I don't want to take with me. I keep changing my mind which are coming and which aren't. My OH says not to worry about it as I can always start again with new plants. I can feel a seed purchase coming on

 

Over the past couple of days I've been going mad with the loppers - thanks @wiseowl for the advice on chopping back that hydrangea. A general clean up, 48 yellow tulip bulbs and three dwarf daylilies added. I should have taken real before and after pictures the first was taken after a bit of cutting as you can see by the branches strewn around...

 

Put up the wire for my amethyst falls wisteria to grow on and planted delphiniums and doronicum little leo in the same bed

I also tied the newest growth in my wisteria snow showers to the pergola

 

Weeding, dead heading, cutting fingers, picked runner beans tomatoes, usual stuff.

 

Was making good progress on mowing - very large - lawn. Until I ran over the lead (on circuit breaker) so now I can see half a mown lawn, half in much need....and rain forecast for weekend!

 

We are finally back in the garden after a month of car restoration, wedding plans and celebration. Enjoying married life.
We cut the front hedge right back (was struggling to get in/out my car on the drive), mowed and edged the lower lawn and swept the patio. It's pouring with rain now so I'm glad we did it!

 

Total pig of a job but so glad it's done. Patio area on Friday...



And five minutes ago...

 

I intend to do nothing apart from listening to the birds!!

 

I started sawing up the scaffold boards for raised beds. I'm hoping to get two beds fully made up over the weekend, as the next few evenings are a bit busy.
Both wooden sheds are now cleared (which involved a lot of dodging spiders, heavy lifting and yet another skip, grumble grumble) and the unwanted one is being taken away soon. I think I'll need to replace the other one anyway though, as it's crumbling and has a leaky roof. It's about 20-25 years old and has definitely served its time.
I was pleased to find I own a border fork and a pressure washer, neither of which I knew about! Hidden treasure trove!

Not been on the Forum much of late. Everything is looking a bit tired now so I really want to get stuck in and start moving a few things ready for next year but its a bit early.

Aerated my lawn and added a lawn dressing, annoyingly it poured with rain a few hours after so now looks like a quagmire! Need to get some more lawn dressing though.

Got myself a load of good quality Crocus which I will be planting in the lawn leaving a path to my Pergola which should look good.. I hope.
