Do you not make chilli con carne? Or harissa?

Here is a harissa recipe that has a fair bit of tomato in it (you could also halve the amount of dried chillies in it).

      https://tomwebster25.wordpress.com/2010/11/18/homemade-harissa-paste/

Goes well in hummus, roasted veg, pasta and rubbed over chicken wings before baking.

somehow I missed this thread, will have to go back and have a read.
So far, not much done, the typical errands, get the mail, go to the Amish veggie stand, get veggies and eggs, do some laundry, clean some pillows, hang to dry, tidy up something. Bought a chicken to roast later. got on the computer to roam around a bit, but have to contact a manager about renting a house in Key West, Fl, for our May trip, as we are looking to try a different area. Then got distracted by this thread. After, moving of the computer, will go outside to garden, and put my chicken in the oven.

I make my harissa in a similar way but don't use any tomatoes. I make a batch and bottle it. The seeds are dry roasted first as this brings out the flavour better and draws the oils from them. Then I put them in my spice grinder (a small coffee grinder) and then mix them with the other ingredients. This is a more concentrated version and makes it easy for it to be kept in the fridge.

I use quite a lot for making couscous (veggie, lamb or chicken) :blue thumb:

It can also be used as a condiment with other dishes. :)

Yes that's the more usual kind of recipe. I have a similar one that I use. I chose to link the tomato one for Dips as I thought it might be less powerful.

I think your suggestion for Dips to find someone who likes dried chillies might be the best bet.

Don't blame you! We got fed up with choosing wallpapers 43 years ago :old: when we moved to our current house. We went for the, now, old fashioned woodchip, which can be painted any colour and style of paint, and ring the changes by changing the pictures on the walls. Fortunately Mrs Shiney is a good artist :dbgrtmb: These are supplemented by other paintings and some photos.

Shiney Mansion (OK, it's a three bedroomed bungalow :heehee:) has over 50 items hanging on the walls. It must be at least 10 years since any walls were painted - I hate decorating!!

in our decorating mode, we took down all the wallpaper from the prior owners. The walls are getting filled with an assortment of art. Attending local auctions, you can find some good stuff cheap, in great frames. The living room was just repainted, and art is being rotated, husband really into it.
Slept in today, will spend most of the day out in the gardens as the weather is perfect here, little chill etc. Still working on my coffee now.

Yesterday i had my physio again. In the last month i have gone from only being able to sit on the wobble cushion for five minutes to being able to stand on it unaided for 20 mins and to be able to stand on it on one leg with a bit of aid.

How quickly my body is responding and improving is amazing. i have a naturally more muscular body I have always been chunky and i have been overweight since i was 6 months old (if i was a bottle fed baby i would if been put on a diet). For years and years before i got sick i did aerobic sports and i never lost weight or got slimmer. Now im barely doing anything but only focusing on anaerobic stuff and muscle strengthening and i have gone down a trouser size and recently went down a bra back size and now i need to go down another one.

My body is loving it. I wish i had done this years and years ago. Aerobic exercise did nothing for my body compared to this.

My illness isnt getting better but making my body stronger is making it a lot easier to live with.

Im doing so well with physio we are stopping weekly sessions and moving to every two weeks instead

I can also walk in some of my heels again. My ankles are a tad week but standing on the wobble cushion is going to help that a lot.

Im really enjoying seeing my body change and become stronger altho most of my body is shrinking my thighs and calfs are just getting bigger and bigger but then i have always had really muscular legs with minimal effort.

At the office, paperwork etc. later today, out to dinner with brother -in-law and his wife Ewa who is in the USA from Poland. So before she flies back we try to get together. Seems she spends half the year in Poland and the other half here, and he also. Guess the marriage works.

I had an OCD day in the kitchen today - in short, if it didn't move, it got scrubbed and if it did move, it got scrubbed twice. Fixed the LED lighting under the cupboards (blown PSU), and had fixed a really weird problem with our kettle; it would work in one of the kitchen sockets, but not another - yet anything else I plugged in to the socket it wouldn't work on, worked fine! In the end, I changed the plug, and that cured it.

I have checked and double checked the plug that came off, and there is nothing wrong with it as far as I can see - checks out OK on a meter too.

                        Oh I agree, @redstar!

We have loads of original artwork hanging on our walls. Are we rolling in money? No way, and certainly not when most of the art was bought. We would visit the local amateur art festival each year, always trying to get there on the first day. The routine was to find the picture that we both loved (there was one most years), and if we could afford it, buy it. If there were other gems, that were well framed, to buy them. Often we would be getting an original watercolour or oil, framed the way the artist approved of, for less than the cost of a mass-produced frame.
