What jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2015

Thanks for the reminder Charlie, I need to take Lavender cuttings too.

I've run out of places to put the winter Pansies I've grown so have started to clear another bed of annuals, I'll plant them in groups there. My sandy soil has gone to dust, it's been so dry for weeks and I don't know if the forecast rain will appear tomorrow.

 

Planted all my snowdrop bulbs and fritillarias. And staked and tied my dahlias for the umpteenth time (and hopefully the last).

I cut down and removed 2 Rambling Roses from my garden, as much as I like them, they had simply got out of hand. Took a few hard wood cuttings though so all is not lost.

Also made a start clearing an area that I am going to build a den/fort (for the kids) in the corner of the garden. Its going to be behind my large exotics with a tree stump stepping stone path to access it.

 

I yanked out my Philadelphus... I feel bad but it flowered at the wrong time... Enough umming and ahing, I decided it was time for action as well.

 

I must admit, if I get bored of a plant or it doesn't work out expected, I don't hesitate and pull them out. The day lilies are next, need the space for other things. Will try and sell them though.

Put netting over my micro pond to stop the leaves!

 

I have a micro-pond too, my friends call it a puddle though

 

Yesterday i finished weeding the groundcover rose bed

And weeded one of the lavender beds.

I also removed the tomatoes out the hanging baskets and replaced them with these http://www.yougarden.com/item-p-400262/trailing-hardy-pansy-cool-wave-mix

Then just went round and picked up all the quinces that have fallen on the floor

Today im suffering for it so wont be doing anything

was going to start a bit of digging in the garden today, for when i build my raised beds as i need to turn the soil and add some sharp sand as the clay soil has not got very good drainage....

i treated my self to a lovely Joseph Bentley digging spade today, and the finish on it is amazing, ive only ever had the £5 tools till now, but i just cant stop holding the blooming spade now and feeling it loool, i dont even want to get it dirty, little things make me so happy :D

slowly i am changing over from the green plastic/metal tools to the ohhh so lush JB Oak/Stainless tools, ive got the secateurs and digging spade so far

@Tingting44, that's shat I like to see a tidy shed with the tools hanging up , I hang my tools up too, I like them to be hung up ready for next time!

'We' have a shared shed.... my side is all tidy, everything hung up on the wall, and shelves for my other items.......Mr AB's side...... well I won't go there!
