I believe they blew 2 engines up on the Vulcan by leaving bags in the air intakes??
An expensive mistake which should never have happened

@Shiney,I read last week that a lot of the wealthy sponsors had pulled out from donating towards its upkeep so that is why I said that. Also many of the skilled people were chucked out of their jobs by previous goverments and a lot of Apprentiships were got rid of at the same time.A lot of the steam railways that are now being brought back to life which we support are being restored by a lot of the old workers of the railways and some youngsters are taking an interest.

John would be good if they could start up Concorde again. Will read all the comments when I have finished the task I am in the middle of (ironing:snork:)

Well I have had such a good day so far having to keep running inside and out with my camera because as soon as I heard the noise and the whistle of the engines I knew it was her and she flew right over my head but as the sun was in my eyes I couldn't locate her until she was flying away from me.

Evidently she was at Sywell again, something to do with some raffle ticket winners so I expect they got a free show of her.Mr Kandys sister and hubby went to see her as the village where they live isnt too far away.

@JWK I see they are going to do fast taxi runs down the airstrip once she has ended her final flights but shame we shall have to go all the way to Doncastor to see her.I love the Red Arrows but Valley on Anglesey was always a bit too far to go and see them but at least they are closer in Lincolnshire:biggrin:

Guess what......I went to Sywell today to see if The Blades were`flying!:biggrin:
Got a magnificent air display from the 'Vulcan' and Blades, plus the 2 seater Spitfire :dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb: I was wondering if you saw it @Kandy, it circled around for ages because it had to wait for each winner to go up.
What a stroke of luck, as I had no idea about XH558. :)
Hoping my new set of photos come out ok.

Thanks for the nice comments. Appreciated. :)
If you catch them at the right angle they can look like you were flying alongside.
Moving aircraft can be quite a challenge. It's easy to freeze the rotors on prop jobs if your shutter speed is too fast. If it's too slow.....blurry aircraft
Unless....you are a master at panning, which I am a long way off.

                      Hi NG,
I've loved reading through this thread and your photos are excellent :)

We didn't know till yesterday that it was at RAF Cosford on Saturday. Would've loved to have gone.

Hi Anthony. Well I was certainly very lucky yesterday as it was totally unexpected and kept quiet (The flight, not the aircraft :snork:).
Also, for once, the sun was behind me :hapfeet:
Guy Martin was also there. I got a few shots of him to tease @Sheal with :)

There was a piece about the Vulcan on BBC Look North last night.
They were saying that it would be making several more countrywide flights before the end of the month but they were not releasing the dates because it is based at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster and crowds coming to see the Vulcan could disrupt the commercial flights out of there.
It will continue to be based at Robin Hood and they hope that planned school and college visits will inspire more children to choose engineering as a career.
Although the Vulcan will not be able to fly they are planning for it to taxi along the runway when commercial flights allow.

I was lucky enough to stay on holiday at RAF bases around Europe, so saw a lot of planes and some that apparently don't exist.

Love your photos @NorthantsGeezer and you must get to specsavers if you think your photos are not good as the quality of them is excellent and a lot better than I could do.Just wish I had looked at the Vulcan Facebook page yesterday morning as I would have seen the flight plan for the day:sad:

PS I get the Blades come over my garden on a regular bases to practise their flying ad. I must say it does my head in a bit especially when I want a bit of quiet time. They even follow me when I go over to our allotment so often have them flying overhead while I am doing a spot of gardening:frown:
