Yep, Sally may have been the smallest kitten that her Cat Flu stricken mother had in the bunch, hence only the one eye, Shiney, but she makes sure she is the Top Cat in the House. Jenny is my brother's ex-farm cat and is faster and stronger but she get's out of the way if Sally comes looking for trouble.!!!:runforhills::doggieshmooze:

That's the trouble, at my age :old: I can't remember these modern cars.

This picture goes back a long way to when I had my old camera in my pocket. The camera only produced half frame slides and I've just been converting some of them to digital. I've got thousands of slides and a lot of them have deteriorated over the last 50-60 years.

It's me with the Zulu chief and his wives. The hut is a Rondavel that was the traditional hut that they lived in. I don't know whether they still make them in the traditional way any more. I was there in the time that they still made them in the old way, out of straw and mud.

Most of them now live in normal (for us) square type dwellings made of wood or concrete or brick. The last I heard of the young lad in the picture was about 20 years ago when he became a grandfather! :hate-shocked:

Another old slide that I've found was a picture of the 'Libertad'. The fastest sailing ship in the world. She belonged (belongs?) to the Argentinian Navy and was on her way to the Tall Ships Race (I think it was sometime around 1962/3).

I seem to remember that her top speed under engine power was about 14 knots but when she was under sail in a strong wind she certainly almost doubled that! She came up over the horizon, passed us, ran across our bow and circled us and then went over the horizon. We were travelling at 20 knots at the time.

I'd like to snap the animal that dumps in my garden, might be a hedghog or fox my scat I'd is not upto scratch.
To get in it would have to limbo under the gate, tried a wild life cam but I get 50 odd of the cat or the dogs teeth mark all over it.

A very evocative statue at Liverpool Street Station

It's to commemorate the 'Kindertransport' before the start of WWII

                              P1240506.JPG

"In 1938 and 1939, ten thousand unaccompanied (mainly) Jewish children were transported to Britain to escape persecution in their hometowns in Germany and Austria. These children arrived at Liverpool Street station to be taken in by British families and foster homes. Only a few were reunited with their families after World War II."

Most of their families died in the concentration camps or due to persecution.

A lot of the children went on to be scientists, artists, poets, and well known in literature, sociology, journalism, film, medicine and many other professions and two became Nobel Laureates.
