Hi there. There is a tree that has quickly grown (last 3 months) and we are keen to know what it is. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

It's not a tree but common mallow, a short lived perennial, also called marsh mallow, has purple flowers. The leaves will die off but it will re grow next spring and then it will flower.

Thanks for the replies. It's 7 feet tall. Is that normal?

A year on this mallow is growing into a tree. About 10ft tall now.

Would anyone know if it's definitely a common mallow as I can't find any pictures of one this big.. Also is it something I should think about removing?

        Thanks

I had a common mallow at one garden and it grew vigorously every year, I cut it hard back after flowering, to about 15" from the ground.

Thanks Nigel. I think I might have let it grow a little bit too much then! How tall do they grow?
