Bargain Wilko's Half Price Sale

Checked a different Wilko yesterday and none of the bulbs were reduced

If I find it at that price (only £13.33/m3 or £10/cubic yard) I'll clear the store out.



What I did find yesterday were 1Kg bags of peanut bird food reduced to 30p (£4.99 RRP)

And giant teddy bears at half price!

 

Our local store has had its worst year ever for clearance sales, it's usually fantastic and I 'fill my boots' but this year I've really been struggling to find a bargain......might pop in again today though and see if they have reduced bird food

 

That's a good reason to always buy twice as much stuff as you need, just in case there's none reduced the following year.

That bird food (got 6 bags) had a use by date of 29/6/2017 plus it's been removed from their website so looks like a discontiued line rather than an isolated reduction, as the barcode had been markered out it's worth checking any instore with intact barcodes because they could scan at 1p

Warning - Although it's possible to get 20 bags stacked up in a Wilkos trolley, pushing it over even the smallest of drop kerbs will cause it to overturn sending half the bags tumbling into the road much to the amusement of everyone in the vicinity.

If you mean me, perhaps you ought to look at all the posts I have made on this thread, plus others in this Freebies. etc. board, plus lots of other posts before creation of those. I need all of those bags of Wilko compost bought today to improve the heavy clay soil in my recently acquired new polytunnel.

I see loads of stuff traders have bought reduced at Wilkos/elsewhere (like when I saw somebody buying 15 ss wooden handles hoes at £1 each, also saw somebody buy a trolley load of reduced sprinklers) and then sell on for a profit at car boots sales but I'm buying for my own requirements. I could also cease posting Wilko's reductions - would that make you happy?

And as in my opinion this compost isn't much use other than as a soil improver it needs to be acquired in sufficient quantities for that purpose. What I bought today might be sufficient for my new tunnel, but some more will help bulk up marrow/pumpkin pits plus new seed beds in my heavy clay soil.

 

I don't see any problems with buying all that compost @Scrungee , I've posted loads of tip offs on here before when things have been reduced at our store, as you all know not all stores do the same reductions. But I do it to help people find a bargain, if they get there before me and clear everything out then good for them, I should have been quicker

I've bought things that I wanted in bulk in the past, Wilkos occasionally have a habit of reducing things that were £10 for example down to as little as 50p or even 10p to get rid of them, you'd be a fool not to take advantage and bulk buy

 

I also bulk buy, and keep an eye out for @Scrungee tip offs, I have also seen people selling items I have bought for pence, I only buy for my personal use, and have stock in my shed.

 

Please keep posting Scrungee, i don't have a wilko's near by but i like reading your posts and it make me keep a eye out for other bargins where i live, it would be nice to drive to a wilko but 30miles is to far to go that's the problem with living in the outback,no shops near by

 

You're right there, left 2 trolley loads behind at CS desk for them to take to back door for me to collect from their loading bay at the rear (doesn't your store offer this service? - don't forget to get a £1 refund for the coin left in it) and tried pushing the 3rd to where I'd parked, but as mentioned above it ended up on its side and I nearly ended up underneath it.

 

Only had 11 bags of 20p compost at the Wilkos I called at this morning, but the main purpose for calling at a few different places on rainy days is that I've got a load of printed £1 vouchers that can be used aginst 3 different food items costingv95p, 97p or £1, so free food plus some money off our other shopping (a few carrots or bananas), so we've been clearing out all the local shops, aiming to get £300's worth of free food stashed away before they expire.

But it would be better for something like a carrot bed?

I've been thinking about building a raised carrot bed.

I'm calling out our local retail centre where there is a Wilko's tomorrow. I'll be certainly keeping an eye out for them

 

Keep at it @Scrungee, you have saved me a few bob with some of you "heads up" and I am verygrateful to you for them. That said I get cheesed off too as I don't have a Wilkos anywhere near me and go green when you are advising about amazing bargains to be had at their stores, grrrrr! I also try and imagine Ma Scrugees face when you arrive home triumphant with your amazing deals. Does your home resemble a cash and carry?!
