I've been looking at that today...... there are a variety of calendars available and the most cost effective one is the rectangular shape with space on each date line to add your reminders. I've been looking for the best price and so far the cheapest is £4.99 however that's on a current offer but I'm sure there will be others and I can usually find vouchers on the internet to knock prices down.

Without going into too much detail at the moment... the winners can email their pictures and they can be added to the calendar quiet easily :) this way the quality is much better.

I'm doing some homework on it and once all the information is at hand I could put a post up to see how many members would be interested???

The reason I mentioned it was because I am putting one together using some of my own photo's and I'm putting together a hard back book of Tess photo's as Christmas stocking presents for the father-in-law :reindeer lights:

I think that's a good choice Apple Blossom, I use these calendars as they are so handy. :)

My daughter buys the blank version to insert her photo's into pockets, do you mean this type or a calendar that has the photo's printed on?

Hi @Sheal I mean the one where the photo is printed like a calendar you may purchase in the high street :)

Not wishing to put too much of a damper on it but there are practical and cost implications in having a GC calendar. It's a lovely idea but there are things to think about. :noidea: Some of them listed below.

If, as you say, they are £4.99 each, how many is that for? Distributing them to members is quite expensive (envelopes and postage) and time consuming (getting money in, packaging and posting).

If members are going to buy a number of them in order to sell them on (or as gifts) they would need to pay up front as the member producing them will need to pay up front as well.

GC would have to word the advertising carefully because of commercial implications for it.

Who would take on the initial responsibility?

Hi @shiney @Sheal @wiseowl I'm sorry I haven't been back to you with regard to the calendar I've been doing some really long hours in work and then just too tired to think about it :ideaIPB:

I have some major exams a week tomorrow so my head is down at the moment swatting up for them.

Once they are out of the way I will have lots of time to investigate

My apologies again  I've only popped on line just to do some research and GC keeps distracting me..... so back to my studying :heehee:

I considered that, but it would have left my valid entry appearing invalid with voting started.

As you know (PM of 11th Oct), both my in-laws have been seriously ill, my MiL going into hospital twice and my FiL the once, but he almost died, and having been so occupied with that I hadn't got around to submitting anything for the Oct comp, early yesterday I thought I'd missed it completely and it was only around mid-day when I remarked to someone that Halloween the night before had been quiet and only then when told it was still the 31st that I realised there was still time to enter and took some pics, but by the time I'd had a look through and went to post saw it had been ended early.

Perhaps a marker type post, stating not to submit any more entries after 23:59 and that the start of voting post would be added the following day have worked better?

Anyway, please do not take offence and please continue with the comps.

Good afternoon @Scrungee I have already taken offence but left the gate, with respect we all have our own problems and crosses to bear, and If I carry on I would like to be allowed to change the comp ending time to 5pm on the last day of the month as it allows yours truly time to stay ahead of the game and would make my Sundays easier ,if member have any objections please let me know:smile:

That's a good idea, I did wonder if you were going to stay up to nearly midnight on the last day of every month waiting to hit the Post Reply button, even 12 mid-day should be fine as long as everyone knows when it's going to end.

If you were to be unavailable on the day, I'm sure any number of others if asked would add the 'voting post' at whatever the appropriate time is changed to be, and could have it ready saved as a Draft and a reminder alert set up in the online diaries.
