    There's no straight forward answer to that Leonora. Many plants have to be pruned in different ways depending on their species. If you'd like to post the plants that need pruning then we will be able to advise you. :)

      Thanks very much....as it happens I found that one of my gardening books.....AUTUMN IN THE GARDEN...has a chapter on pruning!!:autlvs:
