John Lewis ad, am I getting soppy In my old age?

I love most parts of Christmas. The baking, the eating, the drinking, the cooking, the drinking, the decorating while drinking, the .... okay, nobody can drink that much but it IS a fun season.

Just watched it, if it hadn't said John Lewis, at the end, it could have been anyone's advert.

Dont exactly want to make you rush out to John Lewis,

Kind of misses the point of advertising in my opinion.

 

Hi all, thanks for the replies, I just thought I'd share my feelings last night. Anyway I saw it again today and....... Still cried!!!!!!!
I just think it is so heartwarming, yes you need to make your own story but it's just soooooo lovely x

 

I like Christmas but I think these adverts costing millions are a total waste of time and money.
What exactly are they promoting in this ad, are they now selling telescopes etc.

To me an advert should sell you something not just be self promoting, I think that's just arrogance.

In my opinion they would get a bigger seal of approval and perhaps more customers if they gave those millions to charity.

 

The man is there, really, I saw the three stooges leave him there with the insect moon aboriginals! the telly doesndoesn't lie.. he had a British accent.....

 

But it's Christmas , sometimes it's about the mood not the environment. Anyway I love it, bring on sentimentality, love the way people are kinder to each other at this time of year, hate the way they're not come spring! Whatever you make of it, thanks for replying xxxx
