Got to the allotment at 8 this morning, perfect weather for turning over - bright & breezy.
Finally started getting sorted for next year...

Not perfect by a long chalk, but am pleased with this mornings progress.

I just thank goodness that the plot I got was clean and working, I believe a real takeover allotment would be too much heavy work for myself

You are doing well, thanks for the pics

It has certainly been hard work-but I'm determined to get it up & successfully running for next year. I think if I had taken on a working plot (for me) it wouldnt have had my stamp on it.

Back there again today to dismantle the brassica cage & get some form of food/manure/ whatever, dug in.

These are 10 pole, which I think is around 250m2 ...correct me if I'm wrong people :snork::scratch:
The local council are trying to bring out a policy where people only get a quarter plot at first & work their way to bigger plots. There are so many that are abandoned on our site, its a huge shame - the council can't let them to new owners, as the people are still paying rent on plots they dont use:sad:

                  Its started off a cold morning...& got colder & colder....Tuesday gone! image.jpg
                  Weeds, glorious weeds.. image.jpg
A few veggies picked for todays dinner... image.jpg
Several tonnes of weeds & a few hours later...the "house of brassica" is dismantled ready to be put away for winter as that plot is being used for something different next year.
                  image.jpg image.jpg

Ive now invested in a rechargable strimmer, a cordless drill, a cordless screwdriver, 2 big tubs of growmore & another roll of 2 x 50m of hardwearing weed/planting cover.
                  More tomorrow......:phew:

Wow, you are working so hard - but its worth it in the end!
we haven't had time due to changing work commitments and rubbish weather to get to ours - it needs completely blitzing but the rotten weather has put hold to the few times we could go.
keep posting pics, it motivates me to get to ours!!

I'm feeling frustrated now, I'd hoped to be so muchfurther along with the plot but alas a new job & dark nights have put paid to that.

I was hoping to have had onion sers & garlic planted aswell as more cabbage - not a chance!

I've only had the time to almost sort out the strawberry beds for next year..& even torrential rain stopped play there!

Im also trying to get edgings in & get pathways made with every little bit i work on..

Thanks Jack. I've still not planted onion or garlic either yet. New job & long hours is proving difficult.
Managed to get there for about 3hrs this week & finally finished the greenhouse off with plastic sheeting from Amazon. Worked wonders
Little bits at a time....little bits at a time *sigh*

And this is where I'm now at... image.jpeg

I dug up the cherry tree - well...a twig with roots & also the plum tree - a bigger twig with roots & replanted them down at the bottom of the plot on the fruit section. Hopefully they'll take & start to grow with a bit of loving!
