    Hi all,

I have some freshly harvested Salvia ( various ) and Fuchsia Procumbens seeds.

Can I sow these now ?

I'm slightly confused with the Fuchsia as everywhere I look says to sow them fresh in the Spring as they don't keep too well. Now, to me this is contradictory as in the Spring they're not fresh whereas they are now.

    Thanks everyone :)

Have you got enough to sow some now and some in spring? :)

    Hi Sheal,
That's what I was thinking of doing.

It's just that one of the Salvias ( Neon ), has only set about 6 seeds. The others I should be alright with.

In the thread below this one 'Double embryo seeds' Cinnamon has recently started off Salvias.

I grew Salvia's from seed this year and I think I started them off in February. Let's tag our expert @longk, he will know. :)

What a great website, going back to the question, I've already sown a few seeds in my greenhouse a couple of weeks ago.

Many of the ones that are sown this side of the winter need stratification, a period of cold weather, so if no sign of germination by the time the weather turns icy, I would be very tempted to put them outside.

Salvia seed is viable for years so I would wait until the spring on them. The F.procumbens seed I grew mine from came from NZ so it was fresh in our spring!
