Anyone into Yoga ?. I got a book from the Library about Yoga as I am thinking of starting it. What are the benefits ?. When is the best time of day for Yoga exercises, any information please..
I like a bit of yoga, I have a Wii, got bored quite quickly but it was fun for a while trying to get better scores, I have since bought a couple of different programmes, enjoy them, it is good I found it beneficial for my sore arthritic spine as quite gentle, also a comment was passed how toned I looked. ps always did it in the morning as felt quite energised after.
every once in a while I do a few movements. its good to help stretch out your muscles and keep you limber.
Never really got into it tbh i do one yoga move to help stretch my back now and then but like pilates i find yoga isnt very big boob friendly tbh. Hope you get more out of it than i ever did tho.
I include a few yoga moves along with the controlled breathing in my daily workout to help me with my martial arts training. The benefits are many. Improved blood circulation, better mental focus, flexibility, strength, but for me the biggest benefit over 'conventional' exercises is the improvement in balance. In martial arts, to do some of the kicks without either falling over or ripping your hip, you have to make very rapid and subtle changes in the position of the foot you're still standing on. This requires balance and also a greater sensitivity to what's happening in your supporting foot and leg. I find some of the yoga techniques train this aspect better than any other exercise I've tried.
I've been doing Yoga for more than 15 years and would really recommend it to anyone. I started in a small class and then put this into practice at home. I set myself time aside and do about half a hour daily and sometimes more, time permitting, this could be first thing in the morning or in the evening. I find it keeps me fully flexible, great for building strength, a great toned body and getting rid of any stress that we all carry through the day. I have a select amount of music on my IPod that I just love and have my own routine. The one thing with Yoga is that you don't have to work up a sweat to get fit and tone. Sorry @Dips but like you, I have been blessed and other keep fit workouts just don't work for me as jumping up and down isn't very pleasant where as yoga does not pose any embarrassment and keeps me toned, fit and strong. This obviously is just my opinion @music just reading from a book to be honest isn't great as you could do yourself more harm than good, my suggestion would be to join a small group or if you prefer watch a yoga DVD for beginners, which I am sure you will be able to get from the library and just start gently to build yourself up and to ensure that the correct postures are used You will feel the benefit if you give it a go
I think tai chi and weights are far more boob friendly tbh i cant do anything aerobic anyway with my illness so its never jumping stuff My boobs sit really quite high so when i lie down they are at my chin tbh so this might be why i find anything that involves matt work not brilliant. My mate who has large boobs does yoga but unlike me hers aren't in her face when she lies down.
So funny...... yes I agree tai chi is brilliant and weights are good too. Never studied my boobs that much... but yep they get in the way at times
Haha i never had until my mate went to make ur boobs look small in pics lie down and then take a selfie and i was like no that makes them look huge. So we did a comparison. She looked really good in her pics i just looked bizarre and out of proportion and lost all of my neck. Lol Doesn't help that i have a huge ribcage too.
I agree that you should never undertake any exercise type just using a book for reference. Books are good once you have an understanding of the basic principles, then you can apply those same principles to newly learned moves from the book, but I'd always recommend starting off under the supervision of someone who is trained in that particular art. The yoga techniques I incorporate into my routine for example look ridiculously easy, and if I'd only learned them from a book I'd do it the easy way, be convinced I was doing it right, and then get absolutely no benefit. Done right though, the techniques I incorporate build strength in my feet in all the places I need to help me with my balance in martial arts, stretch the hamstrings, and help me to maintain calm controlled breathing even when I'm in the middle of a high energy martial arts drill and gushing with sweat.
I'm doing yoga for almost six months and It made me much more relaxed, healthy and confident. Most of yoga stances are difficult for newbies but with patience and practice , it gradually becomes easy and your body starts to adapt to it. Consistency is must in any exercise and thanks to small boobs, never had much problem
