I have many good memories of seeing this fine actor on TV in my youth.
I remember him mostly for The Pathfinders, Colditz, Raffles, and later in life.... a TV Series called Coronation Street.
    He was 76.

Don't forget the part he played as Toby Meres in Callan. He was in that role for five years (with Edward Woodward and Russell Hunter). It was his first major, regular, role as an adult and he played the part extremely well.

If it hadn't been for this thread I wouldn't have known about the sad news, so thanks, NG.

Anthony Valentine was one of those rare actors who made me sit up and watch him acting and follow the series. I though he was great in Callan and Raffles and whenever he appeared in any films, or TV series I would know who he was whereas with a lot of actors the names would escape me.
A great shame to lose him although I didn't know he suffered from Parkinson's Disease which seems far more prolific than I thought.

Here's a quote from E.W.Hormung, the creator of Raffles, which fitted Anthony Valentine so well in his role as Raffles.

“Again I see him, leaning back in one of the luxurious chairs with which his room was furnished. I see his indolent, athletic figure; his pale, sharp, clean-shaven features; his curly black hair; his strong, unscrupulous mouth. And again I feel the clear beam of his wonderful eye, cold and luminous as a star, shining”

I think Anthony Valentine played Raffles to a "T":love30:

I totally agree @ARMANDII . He played the part brilliantly :). I remember sitting and watching with mother :)

I don't recall his role in Callan unfortunately. Maybe if I saw a clip, it might jog my mem.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Callan series back on the TV again as both Anthony Valentine and Edward Woodward, who we've also lost, played brilliant parts and played off each other.
