I got stopped by 2 pretty young ladies in town who asked me where a certain pub is. I asked if they had googled it, and they replied.............wait for it................we don't have phones! :ouch1:
I couldn't believe it, but being stopped by pretty ladies isn't my pet hate .
Don't read on if you are about to eat!
I was followed by a guy who covered one nostril, and emptied the contents of the other on the pavement :eeew:. Just how disgusting is that?
I must be getting like @shiney , because I am hoping the head wind got him .

I use my landline most of the time.

I do text the grand kids because it is less expensive for them.

Gracious I hate rudeness! We've had my niece this afternoon, it's her birthday tomorrow & she wanted some sparkling shoes! ( her words not mine!) so we took her into town shopping, then for tea, then on to see Aladdin at Ipswich Regent, I dropped her home & her mum didn't answer the door, we had to let ourselves in! Then to add a bit of salt into the wound she never said 'thank you' I feel really hurt! My niece gave me a hug & said thank you which was really nice but fancy her mother being so rude! This isn't the first time this has happened!

I can understand how you feel. It's not nice is it .
At least the little one had a good day though, so you obviously did a good job :dbgrtmb:

Same here :blue thumb: but calls to mobiles cost.

Receiving landline calls is free. I don't call mobiles as my middle name is Scrooge. :old:

I would tactfully tell her that you think it's upsetting not to receive a thank you.

I've got a degree in tactful  :heehee:

On a similar line, all our friends and family know that if we send a present to a child (don't do presents to adults), and it's always money, and we don't receive a 'thank you' they don't get another present. One of our nieces gets a birthday present every year (usually £50) and her sister gets nothing! She has been told by her mother that she should still, belatedly, send us a thank you but she doesn't bother.

Everyone knows we're strict about good manners. :dbgrtmb: Good etiquette and politeness cost nothing. :)

I agree @shiney good manners, etiquette & politeness are free. I was so lucky to have been brought up by my Grandad, he didn't ever put up with any nonsense where manners & behaviour were concerned.
I'm going to speak to her mother in a polite manner & tell her what I expect in future!

I think you are right not to send your niece any money for her birthday if she can't be bothered to thank you. :dbgrtmb:

Unfortunately, if you have to remind someone to say thank you then any that you get from that person isn't usually genuine or sincerely meant. A "trained" response of gratitude by a person usually means it's not a natural thing for that person to actually say thank you and that they just take things for granted.:wallbanging::heehee:

Hopefully it will make them more aware and it may gradually become genuine. :noidea:

On about manners, we went out today to a science exhibition thing. Loads of practical science fun for the kids. I was with my two at one exhibit, when a couple of older kids joined us. One said to me "can you pass me that thing". I replied, "sorry I'm not sure I heard you say please". He just stared at me, so I never did pass him the thing he'd asked for.
