Their 'thought process' .... the family were out for the day, and were to finish up at our house for dinner. They became hungry and smelt food from a local restaurant. Their 'thought' was just for themselves and without any consideration for us. Rude, just rude, is absolutely right :nonofinger::nonofinger::nonofinger:

"pet hate" are subjective . and can be general or specific. I did not see an "order of rules" in the beginning of this thread stating what a "pet hate" should be or should not be.

I always ask guests, in advance, whether there's anything they can't eat or don't like (two different things). :blue thumb: I then keep a list of these things. Organised, or what? :heehee:

Clueless you are just being pedantic
We all know what Redstar means, people invited to dinner then go and have a burger/meal before arrival, Just plain RUDE

I have Dicks in the family, could not stay for the prepared meal, had to travel home a long distance
Then when taking the 14 year old son home after a long Summer holiday, says as we pass a local BnB Oh that is where we stayed on the night after Grans funeral

Redstar was NOT discussing people with Crohn's disease, or any other digestive problems
                just plain ordinary ignorant guests

As per the norm in my experience Christmas usually brings forth a season to be jolly..oh sorry that was meant to read grumpy:)..
Somewhat on a similar theme to guests coming for a meal or otherwise, another of my pet hates are people who you've known for many years who all of a sudden are "allergic" or intolerant of god knows all what. Am I odd being boringly able to eat/drink, wear anything? Are people getting confused with not liking things? Is being intolerant fashionable? Once (accent on the once!) I had to make a meal to cater for a vegetarian, plus husband who was lactose and gluten intolerant EVIDENTLY. Complete nightmare. The vegetarian (have no issues with vegetarians, it's the degree of vegetarianism that gets me) made a fuss about the pre dinner nibbles because I had beef flavoured crisps in a bowl next door to cheesy sticks for gods sake. She was wearing very nice leather shoes at the time with matching handbag! I made her stuffed Mushrooms instead of what we were having and she proceeded to tell me she didn't like Mushrooms, great. She them polished off the vast majority of the Cauliflower which was meant for everybody who got b all of it. The lactose/gluten intolerant idiot decided that he would have an enormous helping of lemon meringue pie which had both wheat and lashings of cream in it! I was then left with mountains of bl..dy fresh fruit salad which I'd made specially for him...grr. He didn't die at the dinner table and was perfectly healthy the next day. I on the other hand was dying as I'd got so fed up with the whole drama of what people could and couldn't eat that I had got tucked into the vino collapso and had a mother and father of a hang over the next morning! I never had this couple to stay/for a meal again!

I don't have problems like that. I suppose, I may have had them in the past but can't remember it happening.

I'm making it a lot easier when we are having 20 people round on January the 3rd. Two are gluten free (one is a definite Coeliac), four are veggies, one is dairy intolerant and two have an aversion to see onions in their food (it's OK if they're cooked right in).

That may sound difficult but it's going to be very easy. It's easy to leave out dairy in the cooking (butter will be on the table). :blue thumb: One dish will have a fair amount of onion but I shall blitz it after it's fried. Everything will be vegetarian and gluten free and we will have a variety of hot and cold dishes as a buffet. No one dares to eat before they come to Shineyland! :nonofinger:
