Hi @redstar and @CanadianLori my FIL is in what is termed a Residential Nursing Home which is slightly different as the name suggests to a Nursing Home.He is paying for his own upkeep which is one reason why his home has to be sold hence the clearing out by us family since April. His care is not quiet £3,000 a month and the use of a wheelchair, commode etc comes out of that budget. From what we have managed to find out is that many of the care staff have left (the one caring for him was 74) because their pay was not good and now that the trainee chef has gone the care staff are having to cook all the residents meals but we are not sure how true this is.

A nurse is supposed to come in everyday to clean and dress these pressure sores that have developed and how she can say that one is healing nicely is beyond us if he is on strong antibiotics to try and heal it so going into hospital was a good thing in one way as it highlighted the problem:yes:

Anyway, just been down to the garage in town to drop my car off for its service/MOT then we have to meet with Mr Kandys sister at their dads house as a builder is coming to view the house to possibly purchase it for redevelopment,oh and the weather is terrible out there today with strong winds and heavy rain:sad:

Oh, my goodness Kandy that sounds terrible for your FIL. I was in the nursing home business for 20 years. Yep, staffing can be an issue. As far as his pressure sores, its from sitting or laying in one spot to long. Did he come out of the hospital with them? In any event he needs to rotate off them so they can heal. Glad he is on antibiotics, bed sores can become septic to the system, make sure he takes them. Also eating well helps. Vitamin C helps to heal and protein.
I recall sometime I would have to send someone out the hospital and the hospital would create a bedsore, not our facility, get me so upset. In general the loved one visiting has to be checking anymore with health care, you cannot assume the nurses are doing their job.

Going to be repainting an old porch rocker chair. It was my sister's and she had given it up because she felt she had no place to keep it. I am really terrible at painting as I somehow get almost as much on me as my project. But I bought a lot of paint so I should be okay!

Today I replaced the bog standard light switches and wall sockets with some nice fresh brushed steel ones. Much smarter and all went well except for one. Well theres always one isnt there.
That will wait until the next time theres a proper electrician called .

Today i helped to finish decorating the parents christmas tree. We got it on wednesday and put the lights on then and my mum did the tinsel yesterday but we couldnt do the baubles until the last lot from tescos arrived which was this morning. I also helped wrap some of my presents for my bro and my dad from my mum.

I have also spent the last two days setting up my new imac which has been joyful and tearful.

I managed to get all the data off my old one in safe mode and now have all that data on my new one so yay :hapfeet:

I also managed to add illustrator to my new one fine :hapydancsmil:

Sadly photoshop and indesign i dont have the serial codes for as they are education editions so you had to send off for them with proof off being in a degree that lasts more than two years. Spoke to adobe and not a single code on the boxes helps them give me a new serial number and i need proof of purchase. As these were purchased between 7 to 9 years ago i obviously do not have proof of purchase and for some reason they are not showing up in my adobe account so there is nothing they can do. :gaah: The new photoshop costs £200 per year which i cant afford but i think i have found a new factory sealed photoshop cs5 for £399 on amazon and thats on its way so im hoping its alrite because everyone else wants over a grand for cs5 now.

My photoshop elements is so old it starts installing and then says there is a error so thats gone in the bin lol

My office for word is no longer compatible *sigh* but i can live with numbers and pages so thats fine

The printer that weirdly wouldnt print properly on my old mac and the scanner started messing up now works fine on this imac so yay

Today the main feet was getting the newest files i had done over the last two weeks off my windows pc. My iomega portable hardrive which worked on my imac before would only show on the widows comp and not on my imac even tho its formatted for both. My usb stick is so old it hardly holds any files so that wasnt an option as some of the files were too big for it anyway. Luckily i had a new hardrive delivered and that worked on both so yay

Then i had to sort out internet browsers. I need three due to having twitter, etsy, gmail etc for design by hook, seren sketches and then i have my personal accounts and it can get very confusing logging in and out in one browser all the time especially when my brain function is so poor. So i keep them in seperate browsers so safari and google chrome were fine to set up. Firefox decided that every site wasnt a secure connection even its own and wouldnt work and i couldnt figure out why so instead i used opera and set that up for my seren sketches stuff and now have it so when i open the browser it opens my redbubble store, my etsy store, my gmail, my twitter and my work facebook all in seperate tabs ready which is amazing.

I think im almost there with getting back to normal. Just got to wait for this photoshop to arrive and hope its legit. The windows comp has been packed away again until its next needed.

Im sure i have forgotten something that i will need to set up or add to the imac but i think i have covered everything so far. My camera doesnt seem to register when connected via a cable but i can stick the memory card into the comp so thats not an issue.

I just hope thats all i need to do now as i just want to get back to working.

Oh and this is the tree

I guess I'd better get going on holiday decorating. Got out my file of Christmas cookie recipes. I make about 45 dozen cookies every year and use them to make up trays for my friends and family. Baking starts tomorrow.

Ah thats so lovely. What kind of cookies do you make?

We would normally put the tree up next week but my dad is having part of his liver removed this weekend so we got the tree this week. Mainly cause we need him to carry it lol but also because next week will consist of lots of hospital visits as he has to stay in for a week.

Shortbreads, spritz, snicker doodles, rum balls, maraschino coconut, ice box, gingerbread, oatmeal lace, christmas spice and then I make and add mince tarts, cherry tarts, white "jewel" fudge and slices of store bought Christmas cake.

                    Thanks for asking.

They all sound immense @CanadianLori good luck with all the baking. I will only be making a red velvet cake in a gingerbread house bundt pan.

We did a test run the other week and didnt have quite enough mix. But tested out this silver glitter sugar spray for the roof and that was brill.

Doh - I've found the phone - it was under the bed all the time :oopss:. I should have phoned it whilst I was in the bungalow - not when I was standing outside. I assumed I had dropped it on the floor outside .

:phew: We have been using one of our bedrooms as a sort of store room/ junk room, it's been driving me nuts for weeks so today I've almost cleared it! Made a good start clearing the attic, shredded lots of old paperwork, sorted out some stuff for the village jumble & had a cuppa with my neighbour :phew: tomorrow I hope to get in the garden if it's not raining! :fingers crossed:
