O....M....G @Beckie76. This is almost identical to what I have been doing/got planned. Done the loft clear out just before Christmas, and most of the spare room. Still got a ton of shredding to do though, and the garden . I also need to part with some old clothes.
The thing I do really need to get sorted is my ppi claims. I flippin hate forms (especially on my hols).

I feel so much better for clearing out all the junk & I hope you do too? I'm sure if I went through it all again I'd find more!
I have all my books from my childhood still sitting in boxes in the attic  God knows why I've kept those!
Oh gawd forms :thud: the most boring thing in the world, get those done & out the way :dbgrtmb: I have a mountain of paperwork on my desk :doh:that's one of my next missions, but not until the garden is done :heehee:

Yes, my surveyor gave me a big telling off for having so much weight in my loft, as it's not a load bearing one, and is only for roof support :redx:
It only has half the weight up there now :)
We must be very alike at @Beckie76 (apart from our good looks). I couldn't chuck out my old baby bath, or some of my old story books as a kid. I keep putting off the paperwork, but doing it could be the most profitable hour or so ever for me :fingers crossed:. They have already said 'no' twice though .

Got the antenna signal now recognized by the smart tv

I plan to get some laundry done, tidying done, floors washed and in between I have 4 seed catalogues to browse. Made a grid on paper to list seeds, packet sizes, pricing etc so that I can get a handle on the differences between suppliers. There's enough there to confuse this simple old gal!:rolleyespink: Oh, and will be drinking copious amounts of tea and eating Christmas cookies to keep up my sugar ...:heehee:

I have told my customers that I am taking a sabbatical and so I am having a week of aimlessness. Soooo nice :) (course my oh says I have no idea how to "do" this ...)

I spent most of the day drying out the inside of the Observatory using a fan heater while also using a Hair Dryer to blow and dry water from the inside flange where it rests on the concrete base. After that I got on my knees and I used a sealant gun to inject some expensive hi-tech sealant that can be applied in wet conditions onto the flange and concrete to seal it. Then looking at my watch found it was gone 10pm so I headed for the warmth and comfort of the House. This morning I used the fan heater to continue the drying out and then in the early afternoon used some hi-tech water proofing paint to paint over the sealant I had put down yesterday as a double guarantee, hopefully, that the inside of the concrete base will stay dry when the rain comes tonight.....we shall see!!

Yes, cracked ribs can be quite painful. I also wish a speedy recovery for Mrs. T.

Just realized this did not post 6 hours ago so will add that I got the sports illustrated swimsuit edition calendar for my friend in the home. Hope it gives him sweet dreams when I get it hung on the back of his door so that only they and he keep company when I leave. :)

He is hemiplegic and I try to lighten his days where I can.

Took the family out to see the steam trains. It was a bit disappointing because we only saw one actually in use today.

                      It was still good though.

Now chilling out with wife, beer, and a motorhead concert on the telly.

Oh and I've just realised, I was supposed to phone my mate to discuss his latest crisis. Best do that now.

Well, my aimlessness didn't continue.

We had a problem here yesterday with a water leak under the sink. It turned out to be an in-line valve leaking which means replacing it. All the plumbers I know have retired and the first three that I tried phoning, that had been recommended by friends, were all on holiday.

I’d phoned their home numbers but got through to their mobiles whilst all of them were abroad. If I had been them I would have removed the divert from their home phone. I remember once phone someone and waking them up in the Bahamas!

The leak was a continuous drip that was soaking a tea-towel in just five minutes. As the pipe is at the back of the cupboard under the sink it is within half an inch of the wall and the bottom of the pipe disappears below the cupboard plinth. So there's no chance of placing a container under it. This meant replacing the cloth every five minutes and my poor old back was suffering badly from bending and reaching to the back of the cupboard.

I found someone who shall be buying the part today and coming along to fix it. In the meantime I’ve had to drain down the system, main tank and hot water cylinder, as the leak was on the hot feed so turning off the mains wouldn’t help. I had to go up into the loft, and tie the ballcock to an overhead pipe so that it wouldn't allow the tank to refill. Then it was a matter of turning on the taps in the bath to drain it all quickly as I had to go out. We've left the bath half full of water so that we can use it to flush the loo!

I hope he doesn’t have too much trouble fixing it.

Not the sort of problem we want when we have 20 people coming on Sunday.

Now I'm having a struggle with a bad back and can hardly move.

Apart from that, everything is fine. :)

I had a similar problem a year or so ago. The bathroom loo cistern was leaking from the pipe underneath. Luckily, I just happened to be on holiday at the time :phew:. I went upstairs and saw a pool of water on the floor . I isolated it, but it was still leaking, so I used my cover and got BG to come and fix it (£50 excess).
By chance, a couple of weeks later, I went into my downstairs loo (which is my store cupboard, so I rarely go in it). I moved something in there, and noticed the bottom was wet, and after feeling the carpet, exactly the same thing had happened
So another call to BG. I was lucky in both cases though. If I had been at work, my kitchen would have flooded from the bathroom leak (fairly fast leak).
