Well, he did a good job. :blue thumb: It wasn't quite as simple as it looked because it was so close to the wall. He had to remove the pipe right back to two other joints as they were easier to access. That ended up as a section 20" long with a curve at one end and a T section off to another pipe.

He was then able to fit the new valve, with a lever control instead of a screw, and then refit the pipe and make sure all joints were good. After that he went into the loft to look at all the pipes up there and trace where they went. Then labelled them, checked all five of the taps up there and made sure they moved freely, labelled them, refilled the tanks that had been drained down and checked the system for possible airlocks.

He only charged £50 although it was New Years Eve and he had family round. I gave him £60 and he was very happy. Certainly not a rip off merchant and I've booked him to do some other work for me in a couple of months' time.

Sounds like a decent guy :)
I like the sound of valves with levers  A much better idea.

I'm rattling around GC not having to worry whether I disturb any members or not as there aren't any on here. :)

I'm looking into the corners to see if you've hidden anything. :heehee:

Today, like most, is the last holiday day. So will try to take my time, relax etc. I do have an early meeting Monday. Have to set up my next year work calendar. Some casual raking of leaves. LOL .

Im trying to get my house back on track. if im honest its filthy and untidy as i have fallen behind due to my health. Tbh not that i can clean it all myself properly yet anyway but im trying to and one day i will be able to.

So i went to finish clearing the harddrive on my old imac. I had deleted everything but was going to create a large file and fill the harddrive with it and deleted it all and repeat several times but the GPU has fully failed now i couldnt even get on in safe mode. My mate that i trust is having it anyway for the price of a KFC, Nandos, Burger king or wagamamas. I get to decided which i fancy at the time.

So i moved the imac out the way and sorted my desk downstairs which is now going to be my crafting desk, so cleared it all and moved work stuff up to my office which use to be my craft room and moved craft stuff down to the new desk.

I also cleared my dining table which i havn't seen the top of since august/september so its nice to have that back.

I have also taken down the xmas decorations and lights and just need to box them up.

I even cleared out the bottom of my wardrobe to organise my toiletries. I buy in bulk because its easier for me so needed to check what i needed to buy and ordered it.

So i reckon a productive day. At least some of the stuff is done and i could get more done because i had cooked dinner yesterday so didnt need to use energy for that.

I ache now and will prob pay for it tomorrow but oh well at least i have started.

Went out for my longest ramble ever - around 10 miles in all :hapfeet:. I'm now 'hobbling' around the bungalow - I think I've overdone it

My mate came and picked up the imac and took me into town for wagamamas and he wanted to do some shopping

We went petrol station first to fill up his tyres which hes never done before and didnt know the pressure needed etc luckily the lovely girl working in there did and did it all for him. Weirdly it wasnt written anywhere on the car. She kept asking us questions like are you having a nice day, have you ben up to much, are you doing anything nice et We think she thought we were a couple.

I bought a 2016 diary while out as im determined to be more organised with my social media posts and marketing etc. Also got a giant fox rubber which i didnt need but its cute and will be used.

Today i felt like me again before i was sick. I hadnt had a PEM flare up my symptoms were minimal and i was doing something with a friend i haven't really done in years.

Since being home i have rearranged all the furniture in the living room and now doing a workout. If i dont crash it will mean i will have improved hugely so fingers crossed.

Not much today - just chilling before normality resumes tomorrow.

Bit of an eventful day yesterday; MIL's boyfriend asked me to test drive his car and see what I thought (suspected clutch problems, however it behaved impeccably with me), and also to chum him along in looking at new cars. Took a couple of Mercs out for a test drive, but in the end the numbers were too big, so he will have to wait.

Got home to a blocked bathroom sink, and Mrs C doing her best to unclog it, but not getting very far. I walloped some caustic soda into it which promptly gave off a load of heat (it could be felt outside the U-bend) and then set solid as a rock in the bottom of the U-bend! So, I had no choice but to disconnect all the pipework and work backwards to clear the blockage; U-bend would not come off, so once I was content that the original blockage was gone it was a case of getting the old kettle out and walloping litres of boiling water down there. All sorted now, but it was a reminder just how much I hate plumbing work.

Did my second most hated job today - cleaned the oven. Whilst I was at it, I fixed the light (again), and tightened up the fan cover plate. Getting a tad ropey now this oven though, so maybe in the summer I might see if I can pick up a bargain
