I've ordered two different packs of plastic traps. Both with very good customer reviews. I figured if I try two different models, there's a greater chance of finding the best one.

I think Mickey 3 is a ninja mouse. The same traps that dispatched Mickey 1 and Mickey 2 within hours of being set, have thus far failed to catch Mickey 3 despite him clearly the bait at his leisure.

Now I face another conundrum. I want to clear out my outhouse, which is the epicentre of their activity. If I do so, they will have less places to hide in there, but then they might migrate into the rest of the house. I'm not sure whether to suspend or continue the tidy up.

I say continue - you have equal chance of displacing them elsewhere away from your home. Remove any and all food sources (including bowls of pet food), and do not assume that just because a packet is in a cupboard that it is safe and out of harms reach; those little sods get absolutely everywhere and will chew into anything.

Caught 4 mice so far, and I know there's more because bait has been cleared from the traps yet again.

I've had enough now. It's war.

I think you are going the right way to eradicate mighty mouse.... I've had a previous problem and tried many ways.... the see-saw trap can actually hold about 3 at a time but the smell of urine is terrible when you find them the next morning.... I gave up on the humane way a year ago.... little blighters aren't they.......

I have another problem at the moment.....

I have no idea how they get into the house.... you never know where they are until your in bed and hear them flying around..... Its like dealing with a mouse with wings!!

@Apple Blossom - there are protections surrounding bats, so I think it best to get some professional advice before you do anything. A quick Google led me to this page, and there is also a helpline number on it too

I thought they were a protected species..... and that is why when I come home I check every nook and cranny and if I find one I leave it in its place until its dark...... very brave of me.... as Mr AB runs a mile :runforhills: I put my hands around it carefully, pull it from its hanging place and release it through the nearest window... brave ain't I :lunapic 130165696578242 5::lunapic 130165696578242 5::lunapic 130165696578242 5: (I don't tell Mr AB I'm actually pooping my pants)

Might be worth checking your loft/eaves to see if you can find where they are getting in?
