Before question A can be answered, can you give an idea of the material it is made from? Check also if the metal is magnetic.

Assuming its spring steel. Heat it up to cherry/ bright cherry, keep it there as you form it. Then, let it cool naturally. When it has cooled, heat the centre of the blade along its length to a lightish straw colour. Just before the straw colour reaches the edge, quench it. I would use oil for that. As the blade enters the oil, keep it moving around to stop any kind of boiling.

The reason I asked was that I was a bit troubled that it might have been stainless steel. Happy for you its not! It makes life easier....:)

        Carbon steel?
Not sure exactly what that is, but its quite often used for chisels, knives etc.

Technically speaking, all steel is carbon steel. The term usually refers to steel that has a higher content than normal. Spring steel, for example would correctly be termed High Carbon steel. I'm out on a limb here, but I'm almost certain that the "old" number for spring steel would be EN47. I would need to get out my books - printed 1960! - to say for certain.

If it is a goodish quality knife it will be a high carbon steel . This can be worked and annealed .
Which way do you want to bend it Zigs . Like a scythe curve or the other way ?
