I went to pick up supplies and when I got there they were not complete but the good news is my face is starting to heal from wind burn and what turned out to be a touch of frost bite.

Chances are tomorrow my face will no longer look like a baboons bum!

I've been using moisturiser pretty steadily so I think that is what is helping. My skin feels like cardboard.

Oh Zigs, that is such a nice offer but I really do think I'd be better off just slathering on a thick layer of moisturiser before the next similar occasion. I do not want to feel like I'm wearing a burka:yikes:

You could always get yourself a Parker jacket, and pull your scarf up over your nose and mouth.

Years ago I had OH grow a beard to see if he looked a little like Santa - when it grew in he looked like an old hobo so that was the day the shaver got plugged in again...:heehee:

I hope your face feels better soon Lori. :) Have you tried lotion for sun burn on it, that may be better than moisturiser.

I know this sounds really strange but for any burns, whether wind, sun or ice or fire, scrapes, cuts and abrasions, vitamin E is a miracle. Even with cuts that should have antibiotics applied it is astounding. Just cut the tip off of a Vitamin E capsule and squirt the stuff on your skin and rub it in. In case of a bad cut just squirt in into the wound and cover with gauze. It really works. Promise

Sheal and Chuck, I will be going to the pharmacy later. I'll pick up both of those when I'm there. I took an antihistamine yesterday in an effort to get the swelling down. No luck with that so I'll just have to wait it out...

Yesterday's good part of the day was that I suddenly remembered about a second wire I had fed into the cellar that I could use to hook up a solar panel and separate charge controller to keep my OH's car battery maintained. Didn't have to do any climbing or drilling

Calamine lotion is the thing for any kind of skin burn or irritation. I don't know if it goes by different names in different parts of the world, but it's basic a liquid solution of zinc oxide I think. It cools inflamed skin, and contains high concentrations of the minerals the skin most needs to repair itself.

You do look silly when you use it though, as you paint it on leaving your skin white like a ghost.
