Have to confess to being tempted to expand my fuschia collection. I only have the two varieties which aren't particularly dazzling. Quite fancy a white and blue type I think I saw in a mag once (i could be mistaken!)

      Hi Loofah,
If you want a hardy white + blue then you can't beat " Deltas Sarah "

Buy fuchsia (syn Fuchsia Deltas Sarah ) Fuchsia 'Deltas Sara ___.jpg

The flowers open blue and then turn pale purple.

So, just to confirm, both are hardy. Thank you :)
Please may I ask then: when would be a good time to transplant them from their pots and into solid ground? I don't mean solid as in frost solid  but as in their permanent home "solid".

        TIA.

If they're in a large pot ( eg tub or deep planter ) , just give them a little extra protection, if they're in plant pots then they really need to be inside.

The best time to plant them out into their permanent positions is between May and July, but it all depends where you live.

They are together in a large pot next to the house wall. I'll wrap some fleece around the pot

I learned a heck of a lot about Fuchsias last year on here . Possibly forgot most of it now !
I'll get my thoughts together before I ask my care/choice questions later this month :blue thumb:

I've seen Space Shuttle recommended for an unheated garden room, but is it just me or are they not very common or easy to buy online? I can't buy them locally.

Any other F. suggestions for the garden room?

                  Thanks
                  GG

                    Hi GG,

I get my unusual Fuchsias from Ken Belton at Clay Lane Nursery in Surrey.

He does a fantastic range of all Species, Encliandra, Tryphilla and unusual cross Hybrids.

It's mail order only but they are plants growing in pots not just rooted plug/cuttings.

I know he does sell " Space Shuttle " as that's where I got mine from.

If you don't need it urgently and can wait a couple of months I can do you one off mine.
It's a bit hard at the moment as its full of flowers. Starts flowering around November and carries on until around April/May.

By " garden room ", is that similar to a conservatory ? Also, is it heated in Winter ?

If yes then these should be ok.............

@Anthony Rogers - thanks for that tip on Clay Lane. I had seen that website but wondered if buying only one plant would be possible. I'll recheck.

Yes, like a conservatory, and no, no heating in winter. It is S-SE facing.

                        cheers

                        Hi GG,

Clay Lane Nursery sells plants at....

                        2 plants = £11.00
                        4 plants = £15.00
                        6 plants = £18.00

There's no p+p to pay on top.

If you want to ring him for a catalogue the number is
                        01737 823307

As for the garden room, you'd need to keep it at 5 deg or more to keep them just in green leaf and above 10 deg to keep them flowering. They may need a little shading during the summer.
