Happy New Year to everyone on GC:smile:

Went with Mr Kandy to my brothers funeral today to pay our last respects to his passing.:cry3:So nice to meet up with my older siblings and to chat with my nephews and nieces from his two marriages and who are now grown up with their own wives and partners.

The weather stayed fine and dry and the roads were quite quiet which helped us get there easily without the stress of heavy traffic:sad:

As strokes run in the family I wasn't surprised to hear that two of my siblings have had strokes in recent years so I had better keep an eye on my health:sick0026:

Off work today, due to Martin Luther King day. Just puttering around the house, laundry , tidy up. etc. Very cold out now, frozen ground. dusting of snow. Cats can only hang out a few mins to do business then back in side they are. Husband continuing his project of renovating the basement. New steps put in, and enclosed in the basement. moving things around, reorganizing shelves. etc. If he was to just trash his mothers dumb living room furniture I'd be happy---or send it to a funeral home--that is what it looks like.

Been de-cluttering for the house move. I've found stuff I'd forgotten I had. The bin is now full. :snorky:

I had a client with the same problem. She asked me if I could disguise an ugly chair with a slipcover and I had to tell her no, but offered to help her take it outside and set it on fire:snorky:

She called me a few months later to tell me her OH changed his mind about it and they got rid of it. Hope the same happens for you.:)

@CanadianLori its not ugly, just not my taste, (or that fits in a basement rehab) more the type you see in a funeral home. Straight backed, hard. More leaning toward formal. His idea is to finish the basement, fine, but that furniture does not go in the basement. Aside from pics, it is pink with white leaves and scant blue stripes, winged sides on the couch, elevated with carved curved legs, the winged side sitting chairs are very straight back, same elevated carved curved legs, then the oval coffee table, and the square side tables both with glass tops (get the picture). His parents have been dead now 5 years, enough, I want it out.

So the rest of my day, homemade turkey soup on the stove simmering (left over turkey that I froze and Amish noodles, carrots, celery, fennel, garlic, onion, bay leaf, seasoning)

also trying to throw out something from the basement.

For heavens sake, I didn't say your furniture was ugly, just unwanted, Why do you insist on turning good natured postings into supposed critiques?

I'll do myself a favour and never respond to another of your posts lest I somehow unintentionally offend!

                    That will make you happy,

Word --"unwanted" not in your post, but word "ugly" is. And you said "same problem" .
I was not the slight bit offended, wonder where you got that from?

But, now, I wonder why you went off your rocker over nothing?

The damage to the carrier is all being repaired and I will probably have it back this time next week. :) I was worried they would write it off considering the amount of damage from the crash.

Doc told me my blood pressure was disgustingly good but he did warn me to stop eating christmas cake for dessert with my breakfast, lunch and supper...:heehee: He says my weight is okay, just shouldn't be tempting diabetes to visit...;)

Ran out of Christmas cake - and it was a big one. Oh, wait a minute, I think there's a small one in the freezer...:heehee: and yes, forgot about the extra boxes of chocolates I bought in case I needed to quickly come up with an extra gift :rolleyespink: and hmm, I did freeze a full tray of cookies too. Last year the squirrels got the leftover cookies but this year I might be out there competing with them...:catapult:
