@strongylodon, EVF does take a bit of getting used to and it needs a lot of patience. I have a Canon SX50 and when taking distance shots it really does need a tripod or a wall etc. to prop it on as it struggles to focus with any slight movement. When I'm trying to cheat I find it helps to prop my elbows somewhere and hold my breath at the same time while it focuses, I then take the shot. :) I've found it totally hopeless when trying to take a picture of anything that moves/speed at any range, the EVF just doesn't respond quick enough so I revert to my DSLR. I then lose out because I haven't got a strong enough lens for distance, only a 250mm but most of my speed shots are close anyway. I haven't used the screen since I first got it.

My avatar picture below was taken approximately 100 yards away with my elbows propped on the sea wall, there was also a strong wind blowing. It's not perfect but I waited for a lull in the wind, then clicked. You win some, you lose a lot!

@Sheal, I know what you mean but I am so disappointed with this camera as I thought it would produce better pics than the Panasonic fz 150 24x zoom which I have had for three years.
Not having one single shot in sharp focus using the zoom is such a let down, as I have had sharp ones even using the LCD screen with the Panasonic, I might even go back to it.

Yes, we do. In the summer. They are fascinating to watch as they hover and dart around. They are part of the reason I have lots of hanging pots with flowers.

Don't need telly when you've got a show like that going on.

Would you remind me which camera it is please Strongy. I've looked back through the posts and can't find it. It's such a shame when a good amount of money is spent on something so disappointing.

If it's still under guarantee there is a chance you could return it as not being fit for purpose.

                Nice bird Strongy. :)

Now I fully understand where you are coming from with the camera. I only use mine on full auto and that combined with patience does help. I can't see the point of using it any other way with a viewfinder that is so inconsistent.

Had a little wren, bold as brass she was, running all over the patio, the arbor and the garden. She wasn't in the least bothered that I was there. Not a sight I've seen very often and she was lovely :wub2:

Curlew in the wind early this morning by the River Frome.

A passing Peregrine was too fast for a shot, so was the Water Rail that dashed across the path in front of me and into the reeds.:frown:

A pretty Kingfisher (I think) sitting on a branch by the highly polluted Hugli River (bottom end of the Ganges, in Calcutta).

It was taken from a not so salubrious area of the river bank immediately behind here - but the people were friendly.
