We'll have to agree to disagree. I must have access to top secret news and media channels without realising. I always thought the BBC was available to everyone in the UK. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Actually, it's not, Wee Tam:dunno: That particular reasoning has been discussed on several media channels over the past months and was also brought up in the EU Parliament by one of our EU MP's. I think you'll find that the UK Government is aware of the situation and doesn't want that particular "loop hole" to ever materialise and so negotiations are already taking place.

Are you saying the bbc has been telling us about the asylum-citizenship-open door to the uk ?
I dont think so and if you were to ask people they wouldnt be aware of this ruling either but as you say your clearly a special person who can disseminate secret messages from the bbc that us mere mortals arent privy to.

It is not a ruling as such, Wee Tam, and in fact applies, and has done so for years, not only to refugees, but to all people moving from countries outside the EU into it.

Which people? All people? Just some people? People that take an interest in the world they live in? People who are more interested in Which fictional character is having a fictional affair with which other fictional character in the soaps? (their choice and right by the way).

And as for the bit I didn't quote, where you sarcastically suggested I have access to information 'meremortals dont', with respect, that makes no sense, since I pointed out that my sources are the mainstream, which you categorically deny has reported the info that you thought only you knew about.

Yes, and that is the big problem, once levelling out occurs we will be a country that they dont want to live in anymore, and neither will I, just hope I'm not around anymore when that levelling happens.

If that is so, lets hope the negotiations are going a little bit better than the ones regarding our membership of the EU.
        Farce, or what?:snork:

But thats not what im talking about. Euro citizens are free to come here which is fine by me.
Eg the c.1million asylum seekers entering the eu in 2015 are not allowed to come to britain because there not eu citizens but asylum seekers.
When they are given citizenship after 3-5 years depending on what country they claimed asylum in they will be legally allowed into britain and it wont matter what david cameron says. Are people aware of this ?

I dont think there are many seeing it that way, and I think you are all getting bogged down on whether it is common knowledge or not.
            Does it matter?

I think we have seen over the last few months that the Schengen agreement has fallen apart with the new joined Eastern European Countries putting up physical barriers on their borders and introducing new restrictions and controls that go right against the agreement.

"The Schengen Agreement (English pronunciation: /ˈʃɛŋən/) led to the creation of Europe's borderless Schengen Area. The treaty was signed on 14 June 1985 by five of the ten member states of the then European Economic Community near the town ofSchengen in Luxembourg but was only partially implemented until 1995. It proposed the gradual abolition of border checks at the signatories' common borders. Measures proposed included reduced speed vehicle checks which allowed vehicles to cross borders without stopping, allowing residents in border areas freedom to cross borders away from fixed checkpoints and the harmonisation of visa policies.[1]

In 1990 the Agreement was supplemented by the Schengen Convention which proposed the abolition of internal border controls and a common visa policy. The Schengen Area operates very much like a single state for international travel purposes with external border controls for travellers entering and exiting the area, and common visas, but with no internal border controls. It currently consists of 26 European countries covering a population of over 400 million people and an area of 4,312,099 square kilometres (1,664,911 sq mi).[2]

Prior to 1999, the Schengen treaties and the rules adopted under them operated independently from the European Union; however, the Amsterdam Treaty incorporated them intoEuropean Union law, while providing opt-outs for the only two EU member states which had remained outside the Area: Irelandand the United Kingdom. Schengen is now a core part of EU law and all EU member states without an opt-out which have not already joined the Schengen Area are legally obliged to do so when technical requirements have been met. Several non-EU countries are also included in the area."

So while the main EU Politicians are trying to maintain the illusion that the Schengen Agreement is still alive and kicking they know that is reality it has died because it is being abandoned by the European public and those countries who are taking the initial brunt and cost of the influx of refugees.:coffee:

We've actually opted out of this .....here's where we have opted in and out! It remains to be seen though whether we will always be able to opt out.

I agree, Pete. At the moment the Government is playing it's cards close to it's chest because of the forthcoming Referendum to stay in or leave the EU and consequently all we're hearing from Cameron is "I am fighting hard to get the deal that the UK deserves". I think Cameron is also aware that even if he is successful in getting what he considers to be a good, fair, and fundamentally radical change in our relationship with the EU the UK public might not agree and vote to leave the EU.:dunno::coffee:
