Could this latest move by Denmark only add to migrants travelling to the UK?

    .
    Agreed.
But then its not only about the Politicians is it? It is about you, me, the person next door, the people in the next street.

And I suppose that all of you folks who disagree with me will welcome all those Syrians into your homes without having a clue of who they are? These terrorists are like roaches. They hide in our midst and they do not have a tatoo on their forehead saying terrorist. You don't have a clue who these people are any more than we do and yet you are letting them take over your country, all in the sake of "they are people too". You base your opinions on emotion not on reality. I am sure France welcomed their homegrown terrorists with open arms too. We had a couple just the other day, killed a bunch of people. Are you not having problems with them about Sharia Law? Sure, some of them are nice people but what are they really doing to stop the madness. Not a damn thing, at least here they aren't. Look at what Merkle has done in Germany all in the name of replacing their falling birth rate and stabilizing the labor force. Germany will cease to exist in a couple of generations and so will you if you don't stand up and show a little spine, maybe even grow a pair. Our economy is in shambles because of entitlements and with an estimate of 12 - 22 million illegal immigrant/invaders sucking on the government tit, it cannot last. You will be the same. Look at Greece and Puerto Rico. More money going out than is coming in. How can a country survive doing that? It can't. Just think. If only 1/10th of 1 percent of these Muslims invading our countries are Jihadist we are in for an awakening. I would prefer to not have the nightmare. But then I am just a poor ol' uneducated cowboy from Texas

I grew up with terrorism in this country and my brothers all served in Northern Ireland during the "troubles" but I learned that while the acts of terrorism came from conflict in Ireland not all Irish men/women were terrorists.
If I were viewing things emotionally and feeding on the fear of terrorism, I might do a Trump and scream "close the doors" ; you are Muslim ergo a terrorist. :runforhills:
        That isn't a solution, that's blatant discrimination.

I can see you haven't been keeping up on Obama. His entire administration has been built on lies, deceptions and scandal. Ever hear of ObamaCare? Fast and Furious? How about ISIS? How about the IRS debacle? Talking of rabble rousing, misrepresentations, insults and libelous words you have just described Obama and the democrat party. We still don't know for sure if he is Muslim or not, although he has been bending over backward to reward them (IRAN) and to denigrate Christians where only 3% of the Christian Syrians are allowed against 97% Muslims who are allowed. While at the same time Syrian Christians are being systematically exterminated. Why don't you watch NBC, CBS, CNN and ABC and see who really distorts and misrepresents the "news"?

Hi Chuck, actually if you reread the thread you will find that the UK is fighting to retain control of it's borders and that while we are taking in some refugees those that we do are from the Refugee Camps in countries surrounding Syria.....and those in limited numbers after what checks can be carried out. So we are quite aware of the dangers that the flood of fleeing refugees in Europe can bring, but we are trying to balance our our fears with a counterweight of realistic compassion and humanity while struggling with our own opposing views and opinions.

Well, to be honest, that's not quite accurate, Chuck.:dunno: You have a number of "home grown" terrorists, of different political and racial opinions, that are not Muslim by nature, refugees, or immigrants. I think, here in the UK, we view the numerous and tragic shootings in the Colleges, Schools, etc that happen nearly every month in the USA as "terrorists" and yet they are committed by USA born, non Muslim, citizens. I think it was one of your own Republican Politicians who said recently that the USA was becoming more and more a fearful country which, for us, is a sad statement to make.

Anyone from the Lone Star State is more than welcome here:love30: to express their views and opinions, like every other member of the GC Gang, so long as they don't breach the GC rules and protocols.:snork:

I see you believe what the "news" reports too. What Trump said was to put a TEMPORARY BAN ON SYRIANS until we could vet them. But then I suppose you think it is fine to let them all in, both terrorists and the good folk and just hope it isn't your family who gets beheaded.

              That's what I like about you, "M", you're such an optimist:heehee:.
In this information technology world that we live in we're unable to learn from past as we have no desire to despite our imploring to do so. The Human race seems to be incapable of getting past it's fears, suspicions and hatreds of different cultures, religious beliefs, skin colours, racial looks, etc. But then again, when you think about it, isn't that just what our history has formed us into??:dunno::doh:

Yes, that is true about Trump. He did say put a stop on Muslims until they could get their checks in place. He is a loud mouth but a lot of what he has said that seems explosive is stuff that has been taken out of context.

Yep, we do seem to have had rash of literal nut cases shooting up the place in recent years and lately more police shootings are being reported, of which many are inaccurately reported in the news, leading one to believe the police are all running amok. And many of these shooting victims are black Muslims if not most. And yes, we are becoming fearful and not of just the terrorists but of our country going down the toilet

I believe there were not tools to sort out who was a possible terrorist and I can totally understand why there is a need after having looked at the pictures of Ground Zero and having seen the live footage of the planes going into the twin towers. I had taken a tea break and turned on the telly at that precise moment. I will never, ever forget the horror I felt and later the sorrow over the loss of lives.
So, yes, damn good reason for being leery about bringing people in without new checks and alerts...

I formulate fears, suspicions and dislike of individual people when they have proven worthy of it; I'm struggling to think of a religion, skin colour, racial features or culture that provokes those reactions in me.

Of course we did, only these Syrians have no way to be vetted. What, the State Department or the FBI calls up the Syrian police and asks for a background check? Only there isn't any Syrian Police to call or anyone else for that matter. Perhaps the Russians? Maybe Obama could get on the phone with Asad and say "Hey bro, got some folks here I want you to check out"?

Hi Chuck, well, the interviews with Trump and also clips of his statements were definitely explicitly targeting Muslims. It was only later when under attack that he backtracked and redefined his definitions of Muslims. As for vetting the USA has had, and has got, one of the most comprehensive vetting systems in the world capable of identifying and categorizing the millions of visitors, immigrants that enter and leave the country. But the problem here is the fear of any Muslims entering the USA rather than the inability to vet them.
We, here in the UK, have the problems of immigrants failing to integrate within our society, of women not being able to speak English even after decades of being here, so our problems are no different from the ones you speak of. We have made mistakes in the past and are continuing to make them while now trying to change practices and beliefs on both sides.:coffee:
