I've been researching photo editing software.

Would love to have any feedback on what's good and what's not so good before I purchase.

I have read a lot of reviews but always good to read GC reviews and advice :)

    I use GIMP 2.8
Very similar to Photoshop, but free :hapfeet:
I use it for all my editing after converting from RAW to TIFF in Canons 'digital photo professional' software.

      Free Gimp

£20 Smart photo editor (you load your photo and 2400 photographers with Photoshop provide their take on it) you do not actually upload the photo, the prog holds the processes provided by those users, you pick the one you want from all the thumbnails

I use Photoshop which is excellent but bought it as part of some business software, bit pricey for just the odd touch up.
Haven't tried Gimp but hear good reports on it

I use Lightroom for small adjustments (cropping, brightness, red-eye) then if anything major needs to be tweaked I use Photoshop.

I think that is a good choice for a 'paid for' piece of software :blue thumb: and will probably provide you with all the basic editing tools you will need :)

Interesting, I hadn't realised Adobe made an affordable package, seems to do everything I use Lightroom for and it gets good reviews.

I was going to buy that one myself until I discovered Gimp. I was looking at Lightroom or elements about 6 months ago. Gimp has served me well so far :)

I did look at Gimp and thought that was equally as good, the reason I have purchased Photoshop Elements is because I have joined another photo group which meets every Monday evening and they talk and use Photoshop a lot so I thought if I am going to join them weekly and learn a lot :)... best to get the same software :heehee:

Well I've done the first lesson this evening... and tbh it all seems quiet simple... lets see if I remember things in the morning :snooze::lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Ahh that's so nice of you NG :), I was up early this morning and out by 6.30am, frosty and lovely, lots of shadows and sunshine... I've taken lots of photos so I'm going to use some of them to see what I can do :snorky: Now lets see what my memory has remembered on lesson 1 :what: :heehee:

Hi @Scrungee, I've just had a good read of the link you sent... certainly got a bargain there :)

I personally think it is very good.

As this is the first time that I'm having a go with any editing program. I decided to follow the book lesson by lesson and not deviate .... that only lasted one day....as today I've had a really good play around myself :lunapic 130165696578242 5::lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I think for the money its a really good reference book, if you forget how to do something you can get the answer and it explains things really well. The lessons are ok but I am sure that you won't need them :heehee::heehee:

Its really helping me.... so would I recommend it..... YES :dbgrtmb:
