    Morning all,

Its raining here, raining in Canada in January!!! Supposed to be nice though the rest of the week.

We had a busy weekend, we had Daniel and while he's so good, you forget what its like to have a toddler in the house, when he left mid afternoon on Sunday Brad and I made it to 9pm before we fell asleep!!

I was down in Toronto yesterday and have some errands to do for Brad today, since I'm back down there tomorrow.

Off to Home Depot......so enjoy your day everyone.

        Aloha everyone,

Well, we got back from our holiday four hours ago after nearly 24 hours of travelling. :phew: I've just had three hours of proper sleep for the first time in two weeks. :blue thumb:

Damn! I came back especially for that - and missed it. :snork:

We had a good time but I'm pleased to be back. We did a lot of travelling with our main bases at Delhi, Darjeeling, Gangtok, Phuentsholing, Thimphu, Paro and Calcutta with two nights at each as we travelled across the continent. The only places that were warm were Delhi and Calcutta with 20C at the first and 24C at the last. The rest of the time it was rather chilly at night (down to -9C) with warming sun during the day.

        Thumbnail sketch:-

India - friendly and frenetic. Population 1.3 billion - 80% Hindus, 15% Muslims

Bhutan - friendly, peaceful and unspoiled - at the moment. Population 700,000 - 75% Bhuddists, 25% Hindus (younger population highly literate -free compulsory education)

Delhi - population 17 million - definitely came up to it's reputation as the most air polluted city in the world. When we were there three years ago it was lovely and clear but has a permanent fog nowadays. Interesting, but felt dirty all the time. A lovely and interesting place but to be avoided until they've sorted their air out.

Darjeeling, 7,400ft up in the foothills of the Himalayas. Took a trip on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.

Gangtok - capital of Sikkim, more remote.

Phuentsholing - on border of India and Bhutan. One large town divided by a gate and fence. Bhutanese side decidedly more peaceful and cleaner.

        Thimphu and Paro (pop., 100,000 and 20,000 respectively) - big peaceful cities/towns 7,500ft - 8,500ft

Calcutta (now Kolkata) - population 14 million - also polluted but not as badly as Delhi. Crowded, friendly, interesting.

        Here's an Ahhhhh!! moment

        P1270016.JPG

Still downloading photos :phew:. An hour so far and nowhere near finished. Then will take a few days to classify and delete hundreds.

Keep well and have a great day

        Aloha!

                  Good Morning,

It's lovely to have you back @shiney. I'm very pleased to hear you & Hannah have had a lovely time on your travels :dbgrtmb:

I've managed to get my hands on some 4 year old box hedging, a gardening friend cleared some from a garden he's been working in, it looks in reasonable condition, I'm going to fetch it then plant it up & see what happens! Nothing ventured nothing gained! It should be ok I think :fingers crossed:

Very windy here & mild 11C, my neighbour has just told me this is compensation prior to the snow coming from New York :yikes: I hope not I'd rather have the rain we've been promised!

Kev has a new self employed chap doing some work for him which is working out really well, I'm hoping that will take some pressure off me & perhaps give me a bit of extra time in the garden :dbgrtmb:

Best I get a move on, have a lovely day folks :grphg:

                    Aloha everyone,

I'm still trying to catch up on things (will take days - or weeks :rolleyespink:) and will take some time to return to my quotidian ways. @Zigs word of the week? :snork:

Cases are unpacked and stowed in the loft. Washing and ironing not quite finished. Still got a pile of snail mail to work my way through :phew:.

We decided to give ourselves a break yesterday and popped to the pub for a quick lunch. I had that foreign stuff called eggs, chips and beans :heehee: - with no spices. Then I did some shopping, made an enormous batch of chicken soup (Sarafi's favourite food is chicken wings from the soup :cat-kittyandsmiley: so I expect him to pop round today). I bought some beef for roasting today - really missed that.

We haven't even had a chance to look round the garden.

Had a call from Barry yesterday, he has received a letter from the DVLA saying his renewal of his mobility scooter road fund licence is overdue. It referred to the scooter that he traded in some months ago (it's still sitting in the shop's window) and is no responsibility of his as the shop is supposed to handle all that. He also hasn't received any acknowledgement of the licence for the current one. So I'm going to have to go into town to sort all that out and hope to get around to it next week.

Not the best of news to come back to, but we've had notice of three funerals coming up

Keep well and have a great day

                    Aloha!

                            Good Morning,

Yesterday I went to the garden centre, I needed to buy some seeds for the seed swap & my seed potatoes  & that my friends is the highlight of my year so far! :loll:

Plenty of wild birds in the garden again this morning, I need to top up the feeders before I go.

1.5C here, it's dry & the wind has dropped which can only be a good thing.

Best I get a move on, I've got a busy day today.

                            Have a lovely day :grphg:

                                Goooooooooood morning, WW'ers!!!!

And what a beautiful Spring like day it is here :spinning: ( *all* the windows are OPEN :hapfeet:) and if that was not enough to bring a ream of beams to my face, guess what?

I've just heard a cuckoo for the very first time in my whole life!!! :dancy: :dancy: :dancy: :wow: That means .... Spring is here ... well, more accurately, the cuckoo thinks it has. :dunno: Took me a moment for the penny to drop that it really was a cuckoo I'd heard :heehee:

                                Anyway:
@shiney and Mrs Shy Knee :sign0016: HOME!!!! Delighted to read your synopsis above but even happier your travels were safe and sound. That is one fantastic photo/selfie!
@wiseowl - fabulous shot! And really is how it is here too today
@moyra - that cold still giving you jip? Time to bring in the big guns then! I recommend a whiskey hot toddy  Hope it is on its way out for you now.
@liliana - all these chatty groups you attend .... I bet you've put the world to rights 9 times over by now! :heehee:
@Beckie76 - fab news on Kev's new worker; especially as it means you may get more gardening time. Good luck with your box plants and hope you get your bird boxes up too  (that cuckoo doesn't sing for no reason ;) )

Well, had a really bracing walk with Ozzy this morning at one of our local attractions which has a woodland walk within it. The café there cooks roast dinners from New Year until March and I popped in to reserve a couple of spaces for Mr "M" and I on Sunday as a treat. Something lovely to look forward to.

#1 son is having issues at the student house and is on the telephone two or three times a day. He's lived with a couple of them since first year (halls) and last year they all moved into this house. They are not all on the same courses and not all of them work as well (he does). Two of them now have "couple" status. I've met them all and they all seem like lovely people. But, you all know how it is trying to live together as a couple/family let alone in student digs and spits and spats have developed over the proverbial toilet roll (which would be funny if it wasn't turning more serious). Seems the "house" have concluded it must be #1 son who is using all the toilet roll and not replacing it (he's hardly ever there between working nights at a nightclub, days at lectures and seminars and in between times in the library). He's final year so he's only got to get through until final exams yet the situation has developed into silent treatment, giggling when he leaves the room and having house "meetings" and "outings" to which he is neither invited or included. Very typical of playground tactics really, but I can sense it is getting him down. Very much a learning curve for him that wasn't in the lecture notes ;)

Healing vibes to one and all and miles of smiles all round xxMxx :spinning:
