    Hi all,

Im a little confused as to whats going to be the best locations to grow things, in our new small garden. Were a little tight on space so its going to be small beds around the edge of the garden leaving as much of the lawn intact as possible.

Heres a few questions to start with:

Do herbs need to be grown in direct sunlight?

Can herbs be grown mixed together in one container?

Will herbs come back year after year?

    Do Strawberries need direct sunlight?

Can garden flowers be planted near and among vegitables? without contaminating the food stuffs?

I think thats all for now... sorry, im sure theres going to be more questions coming soon.

I look forward to your answers and suggestions

    Rgds

I would also add that herbs can easily be mixed in amongst other plants - the flowers will attract bees and many of them look good in a border.

Fennel for sheer elegance. Parsley as an edging. Chives, flowers look good. Runner beans, although no scent, can be a good substitute for sweet peas.

Oregano and Thyme for the front of the border (lovely flowers).

If you have the room and need something for a dark, damp corner, Angelica, but beware, it grows HUGE!! I know, I dug one out earlier this year that had swamped everything else.
