Hi can any one recommend a good lettice to grow in containers some thing I could plant soon ? I also picked up these from Aldi http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_17426.htm Not bad value I guess but I think I need to wait until March to start them off. They can start in doors so I might get them in a bit earlier. Ostara everbearer strawberry and tumbler toms
By the way, is it red already at the start (about 1 ins high) or becomes red when growing? I have sowed green as well as red and I have got something coming up but I don't know which one it is.
Hello captain, Do you have a greenhouse or something of the sort? Or are you planning on growing the lettuce in containers on the patio?
Hi Flower, I'm hoping its green as I sowed 2 pots of something before Christmas that look like they might be lettuce ( I'm hopeless when it comes to labels) Which are starting to get a reddish tinge. If they are not Lollo Rosso then I haven't a clue what i've planted.
Thanks for the info every one. I have a concrete back yard lukenotts so containers are the way I am going. I may use some old tyres that I have too after reading this article http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles2/sanders98.html
Hi Captain, One thing I would say if you grow lettuce in containers is to make sure they don't dry out, otherwise the root aphids will get them.
