ants.

good morning all. never had this before ant colony in my compost bin is it a problem if so how do you eradicate them without damaging the compost. thank you regards peter.

 

I dont think ants are a problem in compost bins, but I do think its kind of unusual.
Mine is usually full of worms and wood lice, even slugs and snails, occasionally slow worms.

Which tend to like different conditions to ants.

Agree with JWK, keep it wetter.

 

thanks very much for replies. i used to have ants in and around paving now no. i think all of them took up residence in dalek bin i still have worms wood lice etc in compost .so it wont matter keeping moist.best regards peter.
