Please excuse the fact that I am new to gardening.
I have a hebe( what type I do not know only that it has very small leaves and tiny white flowers this time of year)
This hebe is now growing too big for its area- it has been there for four years now, and I was wondering whether it would damage the plant if it could be cut back ( very well) or should it only have a small trim as it were?
The alternative, if the second choice, would then be to replace it as it has outgrown its area.
    Many thanks

Hi there Shwn747 welcome to the forum.

I had the same problem as you a few weeks back where one of our many hebes got far too big for it's boots so I hacked it back something dreadful I thought it's either got to be hacked back or dug up.

I honestly thought it wouldn't grow back as it was down to all 'old wood' and looked quite horrible, well it did indeed grow back and new shoots started to appear all over it.

I have also in the past just gave a couple of my hebes a light clip they do look much better than a nasty hack so either will work well for your plant.

So I would say it's worth having a go at all you have to be is brave enough to do it. :thumb:Hel.xxx.
