I'm a new member, living in Yorkshire by the sea, having inherited my Mothers garden; I'm gradually getting the garden how I want it as My Mum wasn't interested in gardening and just had trees and grass, no flowers! I have made some new beds and am gradually finding out what grows here and what doesn't. I expect that I will be posting a lot of questions here as I've never had a garden before and am very much a novice!

Hi Yorkshire Lass, welcome to Gardener Corner:D:thumbsup: You've got some lovely estate gardens in Yorkshire so with the odd exception you shouldn't do too badly with growing some of your favourite plants. Good Luck:yess:

Aye up lass. Welcome to GC.:)

As in the opening couple of lines of a song I once heard the Marske Fishermen's Choir sing (can't remember the rest of it):

Land and sea and Yorkshire pride
    Stretched from Tees to Humberside

The official boundaries have shifted a bit of the years, so the Yorkshire coast no longer extends all the way up to the Tees mouth anymore. Someone invented Cleveland and stuck it in the way, but there's still plenty of Yorkshire coastline left.

EDIT: I'd remembered it wrong (it was a long time ago when I heard it last), but here it is:
