I am looking for a bit of advice here. Last year I bought three special delphiniums, they were very expensive, (well they were for me anyways). They are now sprouting vigorously and have sent up a dozen shoots each. I want to take shoot cuttings from them to increase my stock, what is best way to encourage the shoots to root, heated propagator or just a poly bag in unheated greenhouse , normally I am not so bothered if my cuttings take or not and am usually pretty successful, but these are one I really dont want to lose.

Cut from right down near roots so they have a bit of brown on them. You can put them in water or very open potting mix [I use lots of perlite in compost]. Keep moist but not warm, not in a heated propagator! I don't put them in poly bags for fear of getting too warm. Takes about a month. If they don't take, you can try again after first flowering.

Thanks Liz, am going to the greenhouse not to rescue them out of the propagator :)
