it almost looks like a Digitalis {Foxglove}but I am 100% certain it isn't a Hosta. If it is a Foxglove of thast sizer,I would have expected it to have been in flower at this moment in time, one reason why I am not too sure if it is one or not.

I am sure one of our more expert members will come along with a more positive identification for you:)

That looks like a foxglove to me Herbi. (definitely not a hosta).
They are biennuals so it probably won't flower until next year.
They can be very pretty. I've got one in my garden this year which just put itself there - it's a very pretty baby pink colour. I think it might even be a perennial variety - I'll leave it and see. The other one which has appeared is just the usual purple colour. I'll wait til it finishes flowering then just have it out. I don't want it seeding all over the place.

Yep definitely a foxglove, I make a point of snapping the seed heads off and throwing them round the garden on a yearly basis I love them so much :D

thanks for that guys. it seems unanimous that they are foxgloves. what baffled us was that there is so much foliage with no sight of a flowering head being thrown up, foxgloves being biennial explains it all.

much appreciated for wrapping that up for us.

*puts hand up* i have some more questions:o

i will try to post them in the right place next time :heehee:

It's possible too that the foxglove in the first picture with the slight pink tinge in the leaf stems maybe the standard pink coloured one and the other one in picture two without the pink tinge maybe a white one...:thumb:
