When i look at the gallery pictures it doesn't tell me who the poster was, nor, the subject/name of the plant.

Am i missing something, looking in a too generalised section ?

I'd be grateful if someone would point me in the right direction,

    :help:

    Thanks

[size=medium]Hello Louise and welcome to Gardeners Corner.
I'm sorry I can't give you any real help with the Gallery except to say I don't think it's anything you're doing, or not doing.
I think the Gallery still needs some work done on it - it's a fairly recent addition to the forum.
Marley Farley is the Gallery Manager and I'm sure she's working to improve it.
She'll probably be along to talk to you. She knows much more about it than I do.
In the meantime just do like me and enjoy the pretty pics.

 Hi Louise, yes the gallery is a little strange at the moment apart from the new albums pople have created since our change over at the beginning of the year... The gallery pictures that are constantly turning over at the top of the Home page are from everyone's photo albums on the old forum... Now sadly there is no EXIF data left on them so at this point I am still trying to work on sorting them etc,, The easiest thing to do is post a photo in a thread for the moment asking about specific plants.. I am sorry I cannot be more helpful about the revolving gallery, but they are our old photos... :)

The Gallery is a standalone application in its own right, called "Coppermine" its a fully featured gallery software that can work independantly of any other thing. Here at GC, it is used as an addon, it's taped to the back of this forum software and whereas Coppermine can have its own member list, here coppermine uses the forum member list.

Now, 6 months ago GC was using a different forum software, with another attached gallery software, but the powers that be deemed it necessary to swith to what we are using now and there are scripts that will import all details from one software to another, so from the old forum to the new one. But when you think of the two seperate "addon" gallery softwares you can understand the complications that can occur as the information from one to the other would have to be brought to this gallery here manually...ie typed in fresh! Unless some complicated and time consuming work was done behind the scenes to keep all the photo's info intact and with the photo's.

I would recommend deleting all photo's and starting afresh. In my experience galleries soon fill up again.

    Steve...:)

    Thank you folks, i understand.
Having used other gardening forums i knew that you could either hover over the image or click into it to see who'd posted it and the info they'd written to accompany it and i was wondering why the same didn't happen here - but as i said above, i understand what's happened now :thumb:
