Hi willow. I would pland and water in with bone meal on the surface and then cover with fleece over the cold spell. Watch someone shoot me down in flames now! :D

    hi all, me again lol.
got my gooseberry bushes now and i was goin to put them in our front garden but the passing kids will nick em, i know haha. Can i plant them in my back garden that gets sunshine from morning to about 2pm in the afternoon? I also need to know what sort of soil they wont mind being planted in, i have one bit of garden thats damp all the time and the other side is fairly free draining and good soil. And.... do they have long roots. The ones i have been given, the roots are about 8 to 10 inches long. Is this the full length of the roots?

It is my 1st time growing fruit bushes-Help!!

    Hi Kathy
New growth late Oct is unusual but we have had such a mild time just recently with our Indian summer that I think the plants and bushes have thought it was spring again! They'll wise up after a few frosts no doubt.
