    Hi folks,
Have a small problem with my compost bin:

All was looking good until a couple of days ago when I noticed a few ants in the bin. Today, the bin is full of them !

What do I do to get rid of them, are they a problem ?

A friend suggested leaving the lid off for a couple of days.

    Any other ideas ?

    Same here.
I have put the hose pipe in mine seemed to get rid of them.
To be honest I'm not very impessed with composting so far, I started in August last year.
Seems a lot of trouble for very little return.

When it gets warm mine are swarming too. I leave them alone but Mrs Pal doesn't think much to them running up her arms :hehe:

I've always wanted to give composting a go, but my husband isn't keen for exactly this sort of reason.....he's not a huge fan of anything garden shaped though!

Lots of threads about this... They're not a problem but if you want rid then make sure you keep the compost moist and disturb the ants, they'll soon leave.
