So ... who's going where this year ??????

I have had one holiday in ten years and that was four days to Spain last August.

Later this month I'm doing this big time and have booked a sea-facing suite in a castle/convent on the West Coast of Portugal in Palmela ...some of you may know Palmela's famous wines and this year it has won red wine of the year out of 3000 entries and 36 countries ...

House/kitty sitters are organised and I'm ready to go ... [IMG]

We went to Dorset for the week before Easter, it was going well until the Monday night when number one son phoned to tell us his mother in law had died suddenly on the Sunday. [IMG]

Only a ten day holiday in Spain booked at the end of August, going to see Mrs Pips sister and her hubby. [IMG]

Would love to go back to Cyprus but the new house and a different job means that won`t be happening this year, rough with the smooth as I keep telling Mrs Pip :( [IMG]

Kandy advises I post stop smoking advice here. Donot get free patches from the doctor.Get the most expensive ones that way you hate to waste the money. When you go for your newspaper put away the ciggy money and watch it build up,you will soon have atidy sum, more than when I stopped they are twice the price now.Its not hard,Two weks in patches and you're an ex smoker, don't be tempted to have even one again. We had the Easter weekend in Castleton (Peak District) - can thoroughly recommend the Four Seasons B&B there. It's the second time we've visited, and we'll definitely be going back.

Two weeks in the north-eastern USA in October. Will do NY, Philly and Pittsburgh before the conference in Cleveland I'll be attending, and then Ithaca, Niagara, the trees in Vermont and New Hampshire, into Maine to see my Dad's best mates, and then to Boston, Providence and New Haven. It'll be a whistle-stop tour, but we've done worse.

Would like a few weekend trips too. I've just come back from a conference at the Malmaison in Oxford. It's expensive, but worth every penny. And I'd never been to Oxford before, so I'd like to go back and be a tourist.

Juliasaurus, did NY, Niagara and Washington four years ago (on a coach tour) and it was fantastic. October should be ideal for Fall colours, something we have not seen. August is not the best time to go as it is hot and sometimes very wet but we have no choice so being gluttons for punishment we are going again this August but to the National Parks and Canyons and finishing off in San Fransisco (this is our 25th Anniversary treat).
Pip, we will return to Cyprus one day but will try the Greek part.

We went to southern Spain in February for a week and it was lovely to get some blue skies and sunshine - totally therapeutic.

We've got a biggy this year - we're going to Yellowstone National Park in June where we've hired a cabin to have a family get-together for a week. I can't wait!

I can beat all of you - Port Carlisle. Who needs USA or Europe? :D

Sooo jealous. Actually the caravan, yes caravan, we stay in is lovely & total quiet around except the ducks & other birds. Don't you all feel sorry for me now? You have to offer us some other accomodation!

    cheers
