    Hi All

This shrub has been sitting in the front shady spot for years, and it is getting really huge. I would like to know what it is, so I could give proper care. There are some small stems coming out from the ground around the main woody brach.

Sorry for poor quality of the photo with my phone cam reflected on the window glass, I took it from inside house through the window as it was raining outside. cheers.

I see. My front garden has just enough room for one of this shrub, so not much chance for berries I suppose. Maybe I will have to prune it, but not that much. It is doing a good job screening from public road.

You can cut it back as much as you like and it will regrow. So, if you want it as a shrub, just cut it to the shape you want.

If you want it like a hedge then cut it about 9" lower than the height you want it to be and then you can cut it two or three times a year to the height you want. Cutting it lower allows you to let it thicken up along the top where you want to hedge it. The same can be done for the sides if you wish.

Thank you Shiney. Very informative. I just realised my front garden has more room, but there are other plants nearby this Aucuba, so there is no room for another of this shrub, as it gets massive. I will give hard prune and try to reduce the size of it this autumn.
