Well, techinically it's spring, which is worth a cheer anyway!

Weather wise, I suppose it might not feel like it where you are GCC - Morpeth way, is it? Lovely part of the country mind you.

My favourite season of the year :happydance:

Been a bit colder these last two nights, but then the skies have been clear.

I did pot up my three Daphne x transatlantica Eternal Fragrance yesterday, but waiting to plant the Clematis out until the threat of frost has passed.

Off to Bents today to get some compost (and return my Escallonia Iveyi which is diseased), then I can start on planting the Camellias out.

I thought Spring officially starts around March 21st/22nd???; either way it certainly looks and feels like spring out there 'at the moment', we're forecast another nice day today :sunny: but the weekend is supposed to go down hill fast :help:, rain/sleet/wintery stuff, breezy and for us day time temps no higher than 6 degrees and -2 forecast for Sunday night!!!, hopefully just a blip as its meant to be fine again by the beginning of the week with temperatures rising again...fingers crossed

Yesterday was more like a summer's day but got a bit nippy later on. We're forecast rain for the next ten days, which we desparately need, but I won't hold my breath and I'll carry on watering the garden.

The Met Office classifies the seasons by three month periods, so spring would be March to May.

The vernal equinox is around 20/21 March, which is when the clocks go forward, so that is what is mainly recognised as spring.

        BBC article

I don't particularly care, I just want to get out in the garden

Lovely day here, bit hazier than yesterday but dry and warm. Just had to water all the plants because we haven't had a decent rain for a while (not something you say about Manchester very often!)

Just walked our Ming round the park. He's made up now he's seen all his doggie friends.:happydance:

Well, Spring being Spring, I had a slow easy day in the garden sweeping the paths, putting spilled and rain moved soil back onto the borders. I was amazed with how much debris, leaves, and dead stems had got onto the paths, more fodder for the compost heap, and it was good to get my paths clean again. The lawn was next, and I put a nice crisp edge to that. My border soil is a lot higher than the lawn and the paths and over time tends to trickle down and overspill onto both so it's an annual Spring task. It's so exciting to see the garden slipping back in the Spring form of clearer borders and shoots jumping up out of the ground!!:D
