So I've been to b & q for a mooch about and to look at some plants, anyway I asked one of the workers there about honey suckle plant and she said you know it's buy one get one if your a member well unfortunately I wasn't a member .... Until she made me one haha well I walked away with £40 worth of plants for £20 I bought 4 English lavender 2 pieris ( forest flame) 2 lonicera ( halliana) and 2 cordyline ( Atlantic green)

You aren`t planning to put the pieris in there are you, it will outgrow it, and be hard to move when you have to.

No there not staying there that's why I kept them in the pot still so I could move it, yeah I did a bit of research on them yesterday and once I've transformed the main part of the garden I have just the spot for them,

But I did wonder how they would do in a large pot ? Would they out grow it or would a large pot control it's overall size ?

You could certainly keep it in a large pot, and when you do come to put it in the ground it would be easy then. It may last 2/3 years in a big enough pot.Not sure if it would control it.
I have an avocado in a huge pot (hate it) but my husband ,who died last June grew it and loved it, noticed at the beginning of the winter it was drowning, so I tipped it on its side and left it like that all winter,I tipped it out last week and it was horribly pot bound, which caused the waterlogging, potted it into a huge trug with holes in the base and its going along now, it`s got flowers this year first year ever , it must be 7/8 years old and 5ft tall, who knows I might get some avocados this year.:thud:

Oh dear I'm sorry for your loss, it's good to hear you've managed to keep something that reminds you of him, I just wondered if they would manage a pot as well as a bamboo would, we'll I'm laying down pebbles and gravel in the garden with a surrounding bedding area where I intend to lay plants and the pieris will fit where I intend to plant, thanks for your help.
