My Penstamen are very straggly now,is it too early to cut them back, and how far do I have to cut them please?
If you have green shoots on thr old stem take few off and use as cuttings , leave the old stem for a while till shoots come from the roots. That what I do so I have quite a few now, they are pretty hardy.
I cut mine back once and it never grew properly again, so now I leave them until there are plenty of healthy, new shoots visible.
Mine still look like they did last summer, no leaf loss or die back or anything, small shoots at the base of the old stems, all lovely and green. Should I just leave them or cut back?
