Box sculptures, although not very colourful. How about annuals in summer and similar in winter? Begonias are good for summer and some don't need deadheading, apparently.

The problem with pots is that most flowering shrubs are fairly fast growing and will outgrow their space within a couple of years and they only flower once a year. Then you are left with a 'green only' plant for the rest of the year, which is fine, but not if you want flowers! Compost can also get exhausted and is a pain to replace when something is growing in it.

Better to use annuals like I said - there's a huge choice and many will be trailing, so they would overflow down the sides. They also have a long flowering period, May until the first frosts. Over winter, pansies and violas and bulbs planted in Autumn for Spring colour...then back to annuals for Summer...

:thumb: Hi Scooby, Over the years I’ve tried all sorts, from dwarf Rhododendrons, Pieris, Skimmia, Euonymus, Cordylines, Hydrangers & of course some beautiful little Acers & the nicest thing is they can go in the garden when they are too big for the pots...
