A weird thing happened in our neighbourhood earlier, yet although it was strange, it somehow seemed familiar. Almost like when you remember snippets of a dream.

I was walking to the polling station with my wife and son, when I noticed the daylight seemed strange. Like all the colours were subdued, and the the setting sun didn't give the sky its familiar orange colour.

The air smelled different too. There was an usually fresh smell, and and my skin felt different, almost as though the air was 'closer' than usual.

Then the stranges thing happened. Water started to fall upon my head. I wondered if local kids were playing some sort of prank, but other than my son, no kids were to be seen. Then I noticed that it wasn't just my head that was getting wet. All around me I could see the tarmac of the road and the concrete of the pavement taking on a darker colour. They were getting wet.

This strange phenonemon has been in progress for a few hours now. It somehow seems familiar, like a distant childhood memory, or a flashback of a dream.

Just a brief localised shower here yesterday, still bone dry....although more has been "promised" over the next few days - with thunderstorms at the weekend; I'll wait and see..

Yes.... about one hour after I posted the wet stuff came down from the darkened sky.
      Wonderful for about an hour.
It was a shame I had topped off my water butt with tap water this afternoon...and had the sprinkler out on the lawn and front, and drenched everything in the back..and topped up the pond... I have now been accused of making it rain....Cant win em all.

At last !!! Rain the first for weeks and weeks, up til yesterday the storms kept missing us, but it finally rained buckets last night. You could hear the garden sighing with relief. :yess:

        Rain?
What is this thing of which you all speak?
        Still nothing here. :fingerdrum:
As so often happens in this part of the world the rain has by-passed us.
We're in the driest part of the country here, quite often the rain sweeps across the whole country and then just peters out before it reaches us.
My garden is on light sandy soil and it's, err, challenging to say the least at present.
Latest forecast is that we might get some rain tonight or tomorrow, which I notice has now been downgraded to 'light and patchy'. BIG DEAL!!
