    Hi All

I have been given some rhubarb root (very large) how deep should I plant it its about as thick as a coke can in places!

I am also gardening on chalk.

    Thanks

    Hi David,

Sounds good. You need to plant it so that the "neck" is level with the ground.

It'll be there for 20 years + so take the opportunity to dig a bighole & fill it full of good compost, well rotted manure & as much road kill as you can find. Badger is always good, but don't let the police see you do it.

If badger is in short supply locally, cat is a pretty good substitute.

It was once upon a time recommended to bury a cat when planting a grape vine. We've got the former buried, but no vine planted (yet).

This is all good stuff, I did not realise all this was considered part of the planting process! now I know why so many people grow Rhubarb, can you get I rid of the wife, badgers are reasonably thin on the ground around here.

    Thanks for the advice#
