Can I Uninstall Updates from Microsoft Windows and Security Updates ? ,some of them date back to 2007. Could keeping these updates slow my Computer down ?. Thank you, music.
yes you can, but I wouldnt recommend it. Not unless you really know what you're doing & you're 100% sure you don't use that update. for a slow pc, first thing I would suggest it Ccleaner. it's free http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER and I have been using it for years to clean up my files etc once a week. HTH
You could go down the list of programs and uninstall anything you use rarely and then defragment several times over. I've just done this on my ancient laptop and it's really made a difference.
Hmm if it were me, I would give it the whole works.. Make a note of your passwords as you will lose them & you will have to tell it to remember them again after this.. Go through & get rid of rubbish you know about.. Sort out photos as if you have allot stored on your PC, as that will slow it down as they are big files.. Move some to cd or ext hardrive.. Bin what you don't want.. Then I would Defrag Ccleaner Spybot Search & destroy or Malwarebytes Anti Malware.. Both free Run a deep scan from your security ware whether Avast Avg or whatever.. Defrag twice.. Should be like a new machine.
Re Marley's list, I'd suggest you reverse the order of defrag and Ccleaner. If you do a clean up it will leave spaces on your HDD and Defrag is what you use to get rid of them.
Oops yes Dave you are right popped that in back to front & didn't notice... Thank you.. Revised list.. Ccleaner Defrag Spybot Search & destroy or Malwarebytes Anti Malware.. Both free Run a deep scan from your security ware whether Avast Avg or whatever.. Defrag twice.. Should be like a new machine.
